Saturday 25th 9.30am last club ride of BST

edited October 2014 in General
Amazingly for a Saturday morning looks like it might be dry and even sunny tomorrow morning!

Might be a last hurrah for the summer bikes so how about we head Luton way and tackle Sundon Hill for as a extra challenge

Ashwell-Sharpenhoe-Pirton-Letchworth-Ashwell (42 miles)

Another good Sat turnout and lots of summer bikes, meant from the off today had the makings of a classic ride !

As is now standard, the route above was at best a general indication of where we went. What we actualy did was this:

    Ashwell-Henlow-Barton-Sundon-Lilly-Whitwell-Baldock-Ashwell

Probably best summed up in two words - lumpy and quick ! Good turns on the front today from almost everybody, meant that the pace started high, was high in the middle and was indeed high at the end. Cracking climb up the 15% Sundon hill took everybody by surprise, but maybe not as surprising as the farm track that I found to get us there :)

Good run back via lilly and a power climb up Whitwell hill to bring us back into Baldock & then back to Ashwell. All started and finished together (well apart from Will who left us in Letchworth).

So finaly tally was 49 miles @17 with 2031ft of ascent ! Thanks all for a great morning.
  • Hi David, a cracking ride in great autumnal weather.

And despite the (slight) extension I made it home at the allotted time!
Not out for the next few weeks. See you late November!
    Cheers
    Peter
