RAF Halton CX

edited October 2014 in General
We have just made it back from the Halton CX - fantastic venue and course! The course had some really long fast sweeps on grass, uphill from the start running past the side of the Rothschilds mansion then through the woods. There were 2 really awkward sections which caught people out and were entertaining to watch - a steep 60-70 degree drop down followed by a sharp turn and straight up a steep grass bank with another sharp turn at the top. Difficult to describe but I will try and put some video footage on if I can.

Joseph did really well in the under 10's with a 4th place, and Nathan rode well with possibly 5th or 6th in the under 12's. Sophie had a great start and was leading the under 16 and under 14 girls until she had a puncture towards the end of the second lap. This proved to be impossible to mend but a lovely man allowed us to borrow his spare wheel so she managed to claw her way back to finish 3rd in the under 14 girls.

As venues go this was superb with changing rooms, showers, coffee and cakes! The course held up beautifully and was even cleared of leaves by a small army of recruits in uniform. I can highly recommend it if they hold another event next year. It's just a shame about the puncture.
