  • Yo Ho Paleo and Unpalateable Pirates

    Pirates Winter Code:-

Time to slow the Black Pig down from ramming speed to all ahead slow, 15-16 knots depending on conditions

Fit 'guards to your winter steeds (see Club Run Guidelines if in doubt, Cap'n)

No shirking in the group (see Club Run Guidelines if in doubt, Cap'n), all have a pull on the oars at the front of the ship

Sprints don't count in the winter (except by the Cap'n's special decree, typically if he has his nose in front - see previous point)

Bring some bird seed for the ship's parrot

Enjoy the banter and company - let's have some fun!

    Dutch Dutch
  • Has the lack of carbs destroyed your brain cells
there be no rules on the Black Pig !

the debate on mudguards continues ( optional I think you will find )
    too graphic to post here

No sprinting as the green jersey is now won for 2014.......grazie per essermi stata vicina, grazie, grazie
( recent ringer only a small annual total and still only a Sargent )

So will pretty polly be on deck ?
    Captain on his metal tractor

    its all there to see

Photo not changed back yet .... be patient

    Yo Ho

Do you imply I speak Dutch Dutch?

These be not rules, Cap'n, but the Pirates' Code.

Merely guidelines, if you will, otherwise complete anarchy reigns

N.b there is mention within the code of Parlee, not exchanging views under a truce, but of exchanging large sums of treasure for American precious metals.

Sprinters jersey duly won by the Grimsby Grinder, Tony the Bullet probably second, Pete Nowhere was nowhere.

Polly may be recuperating from his birthday bash on Saturday night or dead and nailed to the perch.

The celebrations and weekend starts here...Pass the grog and Trill....!!

    Dutchie.

    Yo Ho

Plenty of birthday isotonic carbo drinks this evening. Mostly from Belgium...what a country...cycling and beer!

A Pale Paleo night. Might still be up to watch the sunrise riders in the moonlight...

More of the same tomorrow, a true athlete's diet

  • See you all there!
  • Yo Ho Pirates, Paleos and Parrots

Warmed up for tomorrow with a steady, solo 30-mile fat-burner into the hills south of Hitchin....

.....Just in case tonight's intake of grog proves debilitating.....

..now for a slice of birthday cake.....aka A Long John Sliver....

May see you in the morning!

    FD
  • Remember, remember, no carbs 8th November
The pig full of true athletes ( that need you leading out )

So bring the bulk along, before it all goes !
Nice and easy, captain on the iron maiden
Jet lag slowly going, need some fresh air

    See you all tomorrow
    Bring a poppy

    CP
  • A long lost pirate out tomorrow
Keep your good eye out for him
Flat route, 15 to 16 mph

  • Yo Ho

    Scupper me skull & crossbones!

Who can the Lost Boy Pirate be?
    Who is returning to Neverland?
Last week it was Tri Steve, exchanging running around for a place at the oars
...and Lawyer John, returned from several voyages on the 9am Flying Dustman (in dry dock last week, apparently)
Is it Cut Throat Jake, after several months of 'fixing his fence post'?
    Pete Nowhere, perhaps?
And where is No Nonsense Nick now winter approaches?
So many missing crew....the Black Pig welcomes you all back with open oars....
....come take a turn on the front and shelter our returning Cap'n, lately back from distant shores...
'What shores?', I hear you ask and a pint of grog is my instant reply! Don't mind if I do!

    The Really Flying Tonight Dutchman
  • It takes one to know one is all I can say
No affence , no more posts, no more digs
    Can it be true ?
The black pig has many surprises

Davey jones returns from the deep !

    Yo Ho

    2 bells and very un-Paleo!

Looks like the 9am Sunday Flying Dustman has hit the rocks for a second week

Come join the Black Pig at 9.30am, all welcome

Who is the missing Lost Boy?

    Time for bed said Zebeddee

  • Ahoy fellow fat burners
A full crew of 14 to see the return of CTJ

He only gets 30 yards before 2 punctures
Team car turns up to save the day - in his new machine as well
Takes the tubes as a fee and no tire levels in sight.

    I think 38 miles at a flat 16.2mph, all a steady spin

Captain planning a few events for coming retirement
Boys coffee mornings, Friday night pint, captains curry all to come
    Keep watching

Iron maiden was fine for the pace
( bring your real winter bikes )
No sprinting until spring , so Pete no points is still nowhere
    All good fun

Even the Orange paleo parrot with a hang over on deck
Just Nick as the last lost boy

Strike a tune, the pig is on course

    CP
  • Gorgeous day to be roaming the villages with everybody (except us) out in Sunday best
Enjoyed the impromptu Remembrance service too, although I've no idea where we were at that point
Passed at least 3 bunches from Cambridge CC - none was q as tidy as the Blue Train, it has to be said
  • Yo Ho pirates, Paleos, parrots, shirkers, workers, hunters, non-sprinters and Uncle Tom Cobleigh

An eclectic crew aboard the Black Pig today

Many Lost Boys returned to the fold - CTJ the main attraction

Glorious sunshine and virtually still conditions were our just rewards

Steady miles and a drop of the Cap'n's magic potion cured the birthday hangover

Stopped in Bassingbourn to allow 2 coach loads of soldiers to dismount. No sign of any Libyans.

Pete Nowhere almost Pete No Longer With Us, as his chain un-shipped crossing the busy A10

A neat cyclo-cross dismount and run with the bike showed his life-saving skills

Stopped to pay our respects at the War Memorial service in Wittlesford

Buzzed by some antique 'planes near Duxford

Mick raised the pace as we neared home, but sprint null and void in winter

The Grimsby Grinder has already taken this year's title - there are no rules but his

Back to the Cap'n's cabin for coffee, hobnobs and tasting session of the aforesaid Potion

Very appetising, all natural ingredients and highly recommended for Paleos and non Paleos. Watch this space.

Thanks to all for a great ride and see you all soon
