ACCREDITED MARSHALL TRAINING COURSES 2015

Accredited marshals are the marshals who have the legal power to stop traffic to allow the safe passage of riders during races on the open road. They are essential for the survival of road racing and are now widely used throughout the UK. Within the East region they are currently used in Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk.

I am pleased to advise that we have two AMS training courses arranged for 2015, as follows:

· Saturday 17th January at Writtle College, Chelmsford
· Saturday 7th February at Easton College, Norwich

Both courses will run from approx. 10am to 2pm and are a mix of informal classroom based learning and practical exercsies. There is also a short online module to be completed prior to the course.

Full details of location and timing will be provided once the delegate list has been confirmed.

If you are interested in training and can make either of these dates please complete the attached form with your personal details and e mail it back to saraflatt@britishcycling.org.uk . Please do not hesitate to forward this e mail to anyone else you feel may be interested in becoming a marshal.

The courses are free to attend and will entitle you to free bronze BC membership (or the equivalent cash amount offset against other levels of membership) but it is important to bear in mind that each accredited marshal must work at a minimum of 5 races in each 12 month period. With effect from 2015, marshals will receive travelling expenses at a rate of 20p per mile, paid by the event organiser.

If you require any further information please get in touch.

Kind regards,

Sara
