'Met Office Warnings Issued For: Hertfordshire Yellow warning of ice From: 1600 on Sat 27 December to 1200 on Sun 28 December
Widespread icy patches are expected to readily form on untreated surfaces this evening and during Saturday night, especially where snow cover exists or where wintry showers occur.
The public should take extra care and be aware of the possibility of some disruption to travel.'
We've had snow here in Hitchin this evening. Will have a look in the morning and may go out a little later. Could be a dog walk and the turbo for me.
Went out a little later from Ashwell on the Cotic stove pipe cyclocross flying gate. 33mm Challenge Grifos cyclocross tyres with pre-Slime filled tubes to sort out the ice and flints. Should have been bomb-proof...punctured between Bassingbourn and Whaddon on the A1198!! No ice north of Ashwell that I could see, except minor patch near Wendy, but then OK on return. Seems that wide open roads with no real hedgerows are able to get the sun on them and thaw nasty stuff. Only real ice was in the shade in Ashwell village itself! 20 miles @ 15mph. More of the same tomorrow, after the sun has been on the roads. Met the walking wounded pirates after their group turbo session. Smashed heads, broken ribs, colds, Laura Trotts....a sickly crew indeed! Get well soon everyone.
