Welcome to the forum
Newbie to the club!
Hi all! Firstly Merry Xmas and Happy New year to you all!
Even though joining the club early this year (2014) i didnt manage to get out at all for any rides due to family problems unfortunately. But now all is go and looking forward to 2015 with Ashwell CC.
So a bit about myself. I'm Ben and have been cycling, mainly mountain biking for about 6 years, 4 of which i have been racing cross country in the popular Mud Sweat and Gears series of which i know some of you are familiar with. Finished 5th overall on 2013 and 12th overall in 2014. Raced in other events through the year be it short races or the longer endurance races such as Dusk till Dawn, Thetford winter series, Brass monkeys etc. Also had a few blasts at cyclocross over the years which i enjoyed and also used the cyclocross bike for some of my training for mtb. Decided back in April to buy a road bike, entered a few sportives and loved it. Unfortunately i had to give up the road bike to help fund house sale so just had to stick with the mountain bike up until a few days ago when Santa dropped me an email to say my new bike was ready for collection, woo hoo!!
I have decided to have a change and give up the cross country racing, sell the mountain bike and stick to the road for a while. I must admit i do love racing! Im hoping that through Ashwell CC, with help and advice from you all, i will be back racing in no time be it road racing, time trials and maybe next winter, cyclocross.
I have entered the Tour of Cambridge which i'm quite excited about, both TT on the Saturday and the road race on the Sunday, god help me lol.
Work wise i work shifts of 4 days on 4 days off which means that i do work some weekends but i see that you arrange rides through out the week meaning if i miss one or two, i can still make it to the other one.
Im looking forward to meeting new people, socialising on and off the bike and generally having fun!
Will be joining you on Sunday 4th as its my birthday!! Look forward to meeting you all!

Before you sell the off road kit there are still 3 more races left in the eastern League CX. You know you want too :-)
Sounds like you'll be able to turn your hand to RR and TT pretty quickly.
I'm in the Tour of Cambridge too, should be a good one.
Unfortunately Stuart i sold the cyclocross bike last year but am intending on hitting it hard for next seasons cx ;-)
Cheers Geoff ;-)
I hope so J Layne. Looking forward to the new challenges!
What age group are you (not being rude hopefully) as we could most certainly do with someone racing the Seniors category.
Did you race at MSG this year?
