Cyclo X National Trophy Derby

edited January 2015 in General
5 out today for CCA in the last round of the national trophy CX

After rain nearly all day yesterday we woke to -4 up in Derby. The course was frozen for the practise laps so did not really give a good indication of what it would race like as the day went on. It remained very cold but the course started to cut up and became very muddy.

results in the order of the races

V40

John Polak 38th. Not his best race and a list of repairs to both bikes for next weeks National :-(

U14 Girls
Harley Pell 14th (I think)

U 16 Boys
Noah Field 29th
Travis Pell 31st

Vet 40 women
Jackie Field 6th

  • Demolition Polak they call me. Ripping off tubs as we speak...

    Ace ride Jackie!
  • Well done all.

I went to Bethlem Hospital for the London League today. Great course despite being mainly flat. Some really tricky muddy cambers in the woods.

I guess I won't know the results for a few days, unlike Eastern League.
  • I was at the National Trophy for work reasons and it was fantastic to see all of the CCA riders in action. It was a very tough day.

A few interesting snippets from talking to the coach who looks after the highly successful Paul Milnes Cycles squad including women's National Trophy overall winner Amira Mellor:-

    - all riders rode on the same tyre pressures yesterday - around 15psi(!)
    - all riders have been riding the same mud tyres for the entire season, regardless of conditions (can you guess why?)
    - the squad's top riders ride aluminium frames not carbon (can you guess why?)

  • Well done everyone! Tough conditions.
  • Mark,
    Which tubs?

  • Nice one Mark, I like the course at Bethlem. The Regionals there a few years back were one of the muddiest races ever! Proper trench warfare!

Results up now, I guess the gantry stayed up?

  • Challenge Limus.
  • These might seem picky but do they use the regular or the team edition ones Mark, do you know?

Regular have synthetic casing, and TE have cotton casing.
  • John
I believe Paul Milnes are running Super poly
