sunday club run 9.00

edited January 2015 in Club runs
If the forecast is right and there is snow overnight and then sleet in the morning, the roads will be treacherous and its not looking cold enough to prevent the off road being a slop fest.
I dont fancy either option so will be hibernating.

Take care out there, lots of crashes recently.

  • Tim - Rugby has been cancelled tomorrow so I am going to hit the Greenway CX stylee...

If anyone fancies a lap or two shout now
  • Cross bike fixed so would be up for that so long as it is not raining. What time are you going and from where.
  • Just been up the shop NO ICE . NO SNOW NO FROST yet, just a gail force cold wind .

Might chance popping out for a spin ? any one else thinking the same.

    Strappy.
  • Strappy, I woke up tired and a bit late for the 9 ride. I'm going to ride off road later. Won't be as cold as sitting on a road bike. It's worth getting out today for a short windy ride if you have the motivation.
  • Agree with Vince. I just been driving around Biggleswade and seen quite a few cyclists out. Think the wind is dropping too. I'm heading out after lunch for as many miles as I can stand in the conditions.

Think I saw Phil K on the Langford bridge on his trusty Cannondale. Looks like CCA are getting out but solo stylee this weekend.
  • Three out today.

Myself, tim hector, steve a new chap who probably will never come back again as I was a tad too quick for his first run out my apologies.

Done a short route 2 bridges finished on 54 miles with a very low avg due to the wind.

Even so was a nice ride .

    See you all next week.

    Strappy.

aye, solo spin for me this morning on my trusty blue cannondale - saw strappy, the 9.30ers, Richard M (in his car...), tim hector (?? twice??), some cambridge riders and various other brave souls out enjoying the weather.....
  • Good lap of the Greenway with Vince CX styles. The sun came out and we both got a bit warm which was a bit unexpected.

lots of hardy runners, dog walkers and quite a few Mtb riders including a foursome of Nomads who were at a standstill fettling lots with their tyres.

Only two months until the clocks go forward...
  • Think it was you Phil I saw in Steeple. Not too bad out apart from the Northerly
  • Thanks Strappy for leading out into that wind. Well done to steve from Guilden.
Yes I did do another lap. Came in at 76 miles.
    See you soon.....
  • Solo ride for me as well - managed nearly 60 miles this afternoon. Conditions were ok despite the nagging wind. Engineered the route so the last 10 had a tailwind. Enjoyed battling the conditions.

Interested to know what weather forecast others use. The BBC website seems to give the most pessimistic outlook possible which discourages a positive mindset to get out.
  • Yes, i agree that the bbc, which i mainly use tends to the pessimistic side. Certainly wasnt as bad as forecast today. Ah well.
There is an app called dark sky which uses live time radar data to forecast rain and ive found very accurate. Not sure how it deals with temps and ice though.

A hard frost forecast tonight, so i might aim for a cx ride tomorrow to make up for lack of riding today.

Mr Hector getting 76 miles in today!.....returning to fitness, be afraid!
  • Strappy - did you get a new bike in the end? Trek Domane?
  • sorry jeremy

never noticed your question till now, yes got the one i mention had to make a few adjustments still need to change the shifters over but other than that its fine , full carbon bit too light for a winter bike been blown all over the option in this wind, its a very smooth & comfortable ride.

its filthy all ready but thats winter riding for you.

    should see you sunday

    strappy.
