Grass track forks

I'm building up a grass track bike and bought these forks thinking the brake bosses would unscrew but they are an all in one design so are welded to the forks. Would it be ok to race with these like they are? They only cost £16 so I'm not averse to hacksawing them off but rather wouldn't if it's not going to be a problem.

Cheers

  • I think you ought to remove them David.

  • I agree. If not illegal then they should be.

Gives you the perfect excuse to repaint the forks to match the frame :)
  • Yes, although grass track is fairly relaxed generally I'm sure the rules about track bikes are the same as for hard track bikes and a commissaire wouldn't like your canti bosses.

Hacksaw, file and a bit of white paint…job done!
  • Cheers.

The frame is actually white John, although they would probably both be called something different on a Dulux colour chart.
  • Ah cool. White bikes faster than most bikes. But not red.
  • And whilst your at it, clean your decking :-)
  • No time to clean my decking, I spend all my time cleaning bikes because they're all white :-)

This is important! White bikes only fast if clean.

Decking stays slow, clean or dirty.
