Spring may have sprung on Saturday- double figure temperatures, hurrah !

Discussed having guest navigators at club night on Tuesday so our first volunteer for this weekend is PeteT.

Looking forward to an exciting route !!

  • Thanks David, that ginger beer must have been stronger than I thought
Am thinking of going to Whittlesford
    Chapel Hill - Newton - Whittlesford - Duxford - Fowlmere - Foxton - Orwell - Guilden
(Bit of chain gang practice on the way in for Jez?)

Not sure if it reaches the excitement stakes!

    See you in the morning
    Peter
  • All sounds great - apart from the chain gang bit :)

Now, can anybody remember what to wear in spring.........
  • And what to ride?

    Winter bike !

Went out for a spin yesterday lunchtime and the roads were still well gritty and grimy.

Not going to be long though before we can unwrap the summer steeds......
  • And a note to self- mudguards for the run in back from Duxford!
  • Sounds good Pete, looking forward to it.

Yep I think winter bikes still, there is still quite a bit of general crap on the roads.

Clothing is a bit more tricky though...
  • Summer bikes? Does that mean I should have started the winter training already...
  • Think I spotted the word "hill" in that route.
  • Good to see everyone.

And it was FANtastic to feel the sun on my back once more. Welcome to Spring

A bumper spring turn out this morning for Pete's guest ride. Magical mystery tour through some familiar and not so familiar country lanes. One small incident near shepreth station where me and Rich T had a coming together. Strange experience to be lying on the floor and see Rich sailing over my head! Not too much damage to man or machines although some impressive road rash. Hope you are ok Rich and that you didn't discover any damage when you got home. Other than that a great ride in the spring sunshine and even managed a semi decent chaingang on the run in to Guilden. Final tally was 43 miles at a shade over 16 and a refreshing beverage outside in the tuns garden in the sun. Thanks Pete for the route, Emma may be up next for a guest route.

Right back to my ice pack :-)

  • Ouch! Quite a nasty elbow puncture you have there - good job you had 3 layers of sleeves. Take care and get well soon.
  • Good ride, thanks all.
Turns out the mudguards were not needed!
Chain gang up Flecks Lane to Guilden was not too bad. Even David and Emma enjoyed it!
Congrats to Emma on winning the sprint, even though Gary and I had already passed the finish line (just not right one apparently!!).
    Cheers
    Peter
