Saturday 14th March 9.30am 'reverse' ride

edited March 2015 in Club runs
Last Saturday was spring, this week its winter again. Don't put away those overshoes and gloves just yet......

After Pete's excellent guest route last week, thought we would continue with the classics reversed theme. East this time, out into a headwind and a tailwind all the way back from Clavering (well in theory!)

Also, mapmyride has reclassified the hill from Odsey to Therfield so it's now a fearsome Cat4 !

See you in the morning

  • Hoping to join you, but I still have to take it easy ... I could start somewhere near Sandon
Will you be going past the duckpond? 9:50 - 10ish?
  • Been feeling under the weather this week so unlikely to make it round the full club run. Therefore I am proposing to start with the club run and then branch off at Barkway (mile9) to do a shorter route back via hare street, buntingford and sandon. Total will be 26 miles at a shade under club pace if anyone wants to join me.

  • Sounds good Emma and I would have joined you, but I'm not out this Saturday. Get Well Soon and take care...!
  • Sorry, family stuff.. No sat ride for me
  • Jane, no duckpond tomorrow, it's station road and over the 505 at Odsey
  • Thx David. Glad I checked (I think MapMyRide shows a different climb - to Sandon rather than Kelshall, hence Cat 4)

... so it sounds like you'll be heading from Odsey, up to Therfield, across the A10 at Reed and on to Barley?

In which case, I'll try to catch the group near the green in Therfield. (Right next to The Fox & Duck - how convenient!)
  • Not out today - looks like a good day for those summer bikes!
  • Thanks thanks dave! really enjoyed the route! nice scenery
  • Yes a great ride and a great route, just a shame about the damp weather and my puncture - serves me right for bringing the summer bike out!
  • Really enjoyed that. Even the 2 degrees C bit

Got home with a big grin on my face ... and the sun really was shining in Steeple, just as David predicted
