100km Sunrise ride, Sunday 10 May 6am

edited May 2015 in General
Leaving Guilden Morden village hall, Sunday 6:00am for a flat ride to St Ives. Looking for 17mph or faster. Basically: back by 10am.

Will be flying along the busway cycle lane and over the bridge. Would stop for a coffee in St Ives: but I think it'll be too early.

A fresh Costa coffee from the 24hr Esso near the bridge, supped by the water's edge.

Forecast good. Fancy it? See you in Guilden.

Sunrise 5.15am. No lights required.

  • Also tempted if this cold eases up but no guarantees on that. Saturday is a blow out for me!
  • Forgot...grass track competition in the afternoon...save your energy Martin
  • It's a 6am road prologue...
  • Martin, riding tomorrow is unlikely but will see how I feel at 5.30am. If so will you head down to ashwell and then head back or just meet at the Edward at guilden?
  • Am starting 6am Guilden Village Hall, next to Edward VII pub. Then off north [to Wrestlingworth etc]. I'll go past your house if that's any good. But not knocking on the door.
  • A recommended route here. Bits of Grafham ride, Wells ride, and the bridge in St Ives makes a good destination. There's a cracking few miles of new road as you leave Graveley. And you wouldn't think this ride was even doable in 60 miles, but the subway under the A14 at Fenstanton saves the day. And not a badger in sight. 19.2mph av.

The busway lanes are really nice, though watch out for a couple of non-ergonomic concrete rises. And occasional bollards.

If I can, I'll run this as some kind of pleasant weekend summer special.

  • Thanks Martin - really good route - I left Letchworth at 6 so was never going to be able to ride it with you but thoroughly enjoyed it.
