Middle Group run - 1 June 2008
11 set out [though Max quickly turned back as the rain really kicked in - probably still recovering from a nasty sounded incident with a horse trailer from the previous day - hope you get 100% better quickly, Max]. Headed east/north-east and mangaged to get through to the dry part of Cambridgeshire. Up Barrington Hill and Long Road Hill [or is it a hill? - there's some discussion of it being an optical illusion..?]. Through-and-off and quick rotations picked up the speed nicely in the calm wind. 2 punctures in the group slowed down the overall time [always carry the yellow tyre levers was the tip of the day]. Funny kind of sprint-no-sprint at towards the end - Sam bagged it at the end. Phil is clearly on form - and wanted to go further - but the weather at the start dampened ambitions and other areas... Everyone cheery at Richard's for coffee afterwards. 45 miles, 18.5mph ave.
