Tough school tonight with the top 11 on handicap getting PB's - that's anyone with a result time of less than 21:35, with the youngsters racking up the big points.

Well done on a new club 10 women's record for Jackie of 25:07

Only top 10 get points, updates on that to follow tomorrow ..

  • Thanks to Tim and Pete for timekeeping and to Robert for pushing off. Was an excellent turn out and slightlier windier through Guilden than expected. As my legs were very heavy after the Wells ride on the weekend I was amazed I got a pb so maybe epic rides on the weekend are the way forward :-)
  • Great turnout and a some really good rides

Just a note that only FInn is down to time-keep next week.

With the numbers out we really need 3 people to help. Please fill in the doodle!
  • Would it be onerous to add a distinction in the results as to those doing the ten on a roadbike? I like to check in on the results from afar, call it nostalgia, and knowing who's on a road bike would add a bit of colour.

    Just a suggestion.

I'll help with the timing next week - it's better than riding it !!

Vam.. I was on a mountain bike if that helps? ;o)
  • How about running one of the Evening 10s as non-aero (road bike without triathlon bars)? Maybe combine with a post-event beer in the Tuns?
  • I second John's request: marking results with 'roadbike' would help to give a bit more recognition to those who don't have all the kit
  • That's a great time on MTB Matt! Juggling kittens next?
  • I like the road bike idea. Gutted I couldn't make last night as conditions looked great and proved by number of PBs.
    John
  • Well done Jackie - that's an amazing time!!!
  • Yes, easy enough to mark on the results who was on a road bike, but as with all these things we dont want to end up with hundreds of categories. Is road bike with clip ons seperate to road bike without? is winter road bike with mudguards seperate to summer road bike. Do we mark out lo pros with rear disc seperate to lo pro with standard road wheels?

You get my drift...maybe we'll just mark out road bike without clip ons. However i dont think bike choice should have any impact on the competitions. that is i dont think we should have seperate competition categories.

For whats its worth i dont believe having all the kit is of massive importance on that course. A road bike with clip ons is almost as good as the full lo pro.
  • great turn out and good to see so many well into the club 10 so early

i think Tim's comments have some weight as my PB was on my winter bike with clip ons and summer wheels. It was far more about my fitness level than the kit as my recent times prove quite adequately!
  • it might be relevant to note whether or not the rider consumed a pasty during the tt
yes great turn out, wish i could have made it. well done all.
  • Usually the items that prevent eligibility in Roadman categories in other TTs I have been to are: tribars, aero helmets, disc wheels. The easiest thing would be for those intending to record a roadman (or woman) time to indicate that at sign-on. I expect we could rely on honesty, especially as it wouldn't be an official competition.

For me it's about a 2 minute difference between a TT rig and road bike on the Ashwell 10.
  • I reckon it's about a minute... I agree. If you're going for the road record then let it be known at sign on. I think Jez Ross is the holder of this so far with a low 24. Anthony rode it in a low 23 on his road bike last season, but he was wearing a bambino which rules him out, I guess...
  • My shift onto a TT bike last night bought me a whole second over the road bike - it's clearly all about the gear... ;-)
Thanks to all the helpers last night!
    Dave
