Worn Brake Cables
Thought I would blog this warning note especially for those doing a lot of long fast hill training.........
I don't know how often you all check your brake cables. I must confess I rarely do, assuming that so long as they are well lubricated they should be o.k. for ages.
My rear cable broke at the lever end where the lead retaining end fits into the brake lever. It gave on a descent and I eased off by feathering the front brake and took it easy going home. Wouldn't have wanted that at 40+mph on a long descent.
I will be taking a closer and more regular look from now on. New cables for Paris/Nice.
