Will attempt to be there for a 'recovery' ride after plans to partake of the grog on Saturday night.

Also, Flying Dutchwoman getting a bit twitchy after my many voyages this week, with another planned tomorrow...

...An extensive list of ship's repairs and duties to undertake has gone by the wayside while I've been away from home port....

  • Always jobs for a pirate
    But the high seas call
The air, the sea, the poppy field on Sandon hill...
Lift the soul, not the paint work
For the reaper cometh and he tolls for you
Embrace the power of the planet
    The Pirates live

    PS beer was good
  • Yo Ho Cap'n

The lure of the salty air, the cry of the gulls, warmth of shipmates, the sirens calling....

...versus the real threat of the Kraken's wrath....

.......decisions, decisions, the rolling seas or the rolling pin?....I'm all at sea...or am I?!

  • The kraken is a fearsome beast
Close your eyes and show the head of the medusa
She will turn to stone along with her heart
Makes Sunday evening a bit awkward though !

Pirates have freedom in their soul
..... After doing the washing up

Lost boy or a real pirate ?
    Freedom or flagellation
    Karma or calm down

    Sunday will tell all

The kraken is making fearful noises about tomorrow's voyage

Awailing and gnashing of terrible teeth....

.....Best get some more grog in and gain some Dutchman courage

...the lure of the salty sea is calling me!

    Yo Ho Hic

Nearly 2 bells and still on the grog.....

The kraken is raging....will I defeat her and meet my crewmates later today?

    Result just in:

    Kraken & Grog 1 Holland 0

Might get out later this afternoon....

...Chores, what chores? No thanks, I've had enough to drink....

    Failing Dutchman
  • FD spotted escaping the kraken at midday
Must have gone to sleep for a nap

45 miles at 16.8mph, flat course
    Finished in the sunshine
    Coffee and choccy biscuits
Maiden voyage went well for the maiden

    Late result:

    Kraken & Grog 1 Holland 2

Indeed, Cap'n, I managed to escape the mighty Kraken's Jaws (chores)...

..and sailed carefree and happy from Ashwell to St Ives and back.

64 miles @ 17.5mph, a bit slower than earlier in the week, due to excess grog resistance.

Sweated out the grog and ready for some rehydration therapy, if the Kraken allows.

4 rides in 5 days totalling 275 miles plus 2 hours on the turbo.

Very un pirate-like, but very necessary for Paris Nice cruise in 3 weeks time.

  • Who is this monster ?
The kraken knows it belongs under the sea
But a pirate working out properly ?
Paris nice has lead to weight loss in many
Cuddly ruddy middle aged citizens have become lean and mean
But the black pig remains heavy in the water with a merry crew

One day all will stare to the horizon and wish to be on board

    The Kraken's revenge was swift...

Had to endure the Kraken's Triathlon:

    Cycle 65 miles
Walk the dogs for an hour
Cook the dinner and wash up

Despite the working out, this middle-aged pirate is stil cuddly and ruddy - put on 7llbs over the past 4 weeks. Extenuating circumstances.

Now the last fine-tuning effort begins. No grog. Salads. Gym. Evening rides. Abstinence. An anti-pirate lifestyle, in fact.

The Colnago C60 already on order for the Spring! Things are getting serious....

  • Loved it today! John, you were missed. Thank you James and all :o) More happy Sundays ahead.
  • Washing up !
A flaggon should never be empty long enough to wash it.
    Ruins the flavour.
The parrot pirate has flown the nest and gone to feed on seed.
Still replaced by a fair maiden, things are looking up.

So may the mountains bring you peace amoungst the pain
Let you soul fly high while your legs crumble

How long before the kraken strikes ?
    Pinny time cometh

Indeed a shocking turn of events. A shadow of my former self in body and mind.

I'm sure after completion of Paris Nice I'll return to a life of sloth ...

...and look forward to being back on the Black Pig through the autumn and winter months.

Might even manage a Cap'n's table when I can switch from bird seed to real food?

May be out Sunday, but have an afternoon 10 in Cambridge on Saturday.....yes, double digit pints of grog!
