Eastern CX Round 2 Springfield X

edited September 2015 in Cyclocross/Offroad
Another great turn today for CCA with 24 riders at this popular and flat venue. CCA set up camp on the sloping banks which gave us great views of the action when you weren't racing. When you were racing the support around the course was brilliant.

  • Well done everyone, some really good results again and i think we were 1st club with Welwyn.

I was having a great race with Iain until he went into kamikaze mode and overtook me upside down and in the air. i did rather fail to check he was ok, but you know, i was trying to catch the bloke in front and having managed to not ride over his legs he basically looked ok lying in a bush…..
  • It was a spectacular if ill-advised overtaking manoeuvre and right in front of the CCA camp too. Nobody laughed honestly! Hope you're feeling OK Iain
  • That must have been a spectacular sight, no pictures available? I think I was the bloke in front that Tim was trying to catch so missed it all.

Great atmosphere all day and absolutely fantastic support from CCA hill.
  • blimey that hurt - walking a bit oddly today - cyclocross brakes aren't up to much are they (that said, neither are my bike handling skills!)? But a great afternoon out and the support from the blue camp was great.

  • Great day yesterday. Best moments for me was watching the skill of slowing just before the line to let the leader pass & so save a lap :) Then the expression on Daniels face when he saw Peter had finished before him - I think that was the shock that rippled though his bike & caused the tub to come off at the next corner...
  • Nice photos. Are you checking your nail varnish Iain? (At least I waited until after the race to check mine!)
  • If I get down to the cross racing and bring the kids are there likely to be other people around who they can hang out with whilst I am racing the 45-49 race? I will register with the league if so and join in the fun. Nobody said you could rude cross upside down. Sounds like a lot of fun.
  • Vincent, I'm in the vet 40s (40-49 now) race, so Joseph will always be about somewhere, but if you know him at all the likelihood of him staying in one place for any amount of time is slim. Tim is in that race too so if either of his kids go they will be about. More often than not the adults and kids of the vet 50 racers stay to watch the racing. Last week there there were loads of people about but it was quite fair weather so this may change as the weather worsens.

For what it's worth I've been leaving Joseph whilst I race for years now and I've never felt overly concerned about it.
  • Vincent

Have you looked at the Eastern X page?

Notice says only 4 spaces in 40-49 for Sunday race at Hillyfields. You would have to be there sharp to secure sign on on day otherwise it is the seniors @ 2.30 which makes it a long day.
