Any suggestions on a good range to pair with a 40 tooth front ring which will be suitable for our local courses?

I don't know if I need to go wide range 11-28 or 12-25 is fine

If you're doing Welwyn tomorrow definitely the 11-28, it's quite hilly.

I have a single ring set up, a 38 on the front and 11-32 on the back. Of the 5 courses ive ridden this year i havent used the 11, 12, or 13 once but have used the 32 on two courses. I am a bit of a weakling mind.

Its nice to have a small gear for any short steep bank especially in the later part of the race that might otherwise force a dismount.

I have 36 as a single chain ring and 12-30 at the back. Use bottom gear much more often than top!

I got round today but 40x28 wasnt a great gear for the lumps

I can feel an 11-32 making its way into a basket this evening!
