sunday afternoon run out

edited October 2015 in Club runs
Following the abject failure to get out on either Saturday or Sunday mornings due to fatherly commitments.

Through the winter so as not to turn into balls a flab, a few of us who fall into afore mentioned father category are going to try a Sunday pm run .. Normal club run rules/ pace of about 40 @16/17 ave. If anyone else would like to join us regularly or occasionally please let me know.

  • This is a good idea and provides flexibility around the weekend. Reckon it would be popular on days where it is icy early on but warms up sufficiently by lunchtime.

Would be keen to join occasionally if I can't make the Pirate ride. Encourage you to post on here if you intend to go out so others know it is happening.
  • I don't have fatherly commitments but am rubbish at getting out of bed on Sunday mornings! So would be interested in joining occasionally - please post as and when.

    Thanks
    Emma
  • Great idea, I'd hate to miss a club run if the weather's bad on a Saturday. Like Emma and Jeremy, I'd be interested in joining occasionally.
  • Good plan. What time were you suggesting starting? 12-ish?
  • Ok thanks.. Sounds like enough interest to do something. We would start from Tunns so let me know if you are defo about. I will put timings up depending on who's in
  • I like this idea as I tend to have family sporting commitments in the morning
  • hi- can anyone interested in ride on Sunday pm (1.30)starting at the Tuns post- i actually having hailed the idea won't be about this week but i know others are keen
  • Having missed this morning's ride I'd be up for a run out tomorrow afternoon. Anyone else planning to go out?
  • Jenny we are away this weekend.. The consensus I think I a 9am tomorrow if you are up for that
  • Select group of exactly one set off from the 3 Tuns at 12.30pm, after a morning lie-in, then opening presents with family.

    Happy Birthday for today John!

Would be nice to dedicate a club ride later this month to celebrate.
  • Thanks Jeremy!

As soon as I'm back up to club speed and distance I'll be back out on Sunday mornings..aiming for next week, if it's not too late a night at the Olympic velodrome on Saturday. We have track centre tickets to celebrate my son's 16th and my 50th!

  • 50k as soon as you return
    Fifty gun salute ready
I say fifty guns at the ready, old boy

    CP
  • Old boy, I say did you say old boy, boy?

50k will be good, but recent lay-off means more like Porky Pig, so not looking at Speedy Gonzales or Roadrunner pace.

Low gear spinning like the Tazmanian Devil or Granny gear in Sylvester & Tweety or else I'll kick up a Pepe le Pew stink.

Might need to build an Acme inspired rocket bike, as per Wile E. Coyote?

    Foghorn, I say, Foghorn Dutchman
  • Good chance that weather will be at its glorious peak tomorrow arvo... Any takers
  • 12 tuns...heading west
  • Wind will hamper our efforts today so I anyone is keen we are going out at 12.45 tomorrow..
  • Well it was windy but we managed 45 @ 15.7... Much faster with storm Desmond on our backs!!
  • Sunday afternoon this week if anybody needs the extra miles
  • What time are you thinking? im on football duty in the morning but might be able to do pm.
  • So 3 in the wind today for a speedy initial 30 followed by 15 into the wind. Good stuff though
  • Thanks chaps, nice to get out and glad we missed the grim morning weather.
