London track accreditation.

edited November 2015 in General
I did my level 2 and Richard and his son did their level 1 last night. All good.

All very simple and to let people know what it involved the level 2 was basically single line changes and riding in pairs. Anyone who has ridden a club session would have no problems at all. The only tricky aspect was the chap with his boxer shorts sticking out the top of his assos shorts who had to get the coach clip his shoes in for him, couldnt ride within 20 metres of the rider in front, couldnt ride a straight line and kept nearly slidding off.
The point of accreditation i guess.

  • Brilliant!! I'm doing level three with a friend on tues if I can shift this stinking cold which kept me out of Grafham today. May still be spaces if you fancy Tuesday (4pm?) Tim?
  • The comeback continues. I got confirmation that I'm still accredited at Manchester pending a check ride on an SQT at some point before Christmas.

That will give me provisional accreditation at Lee Valley, likewise pending a check ride (Stage 4 probationary assessment) for full accreditation.

... and bought a basic training track bike yesterday too.
  • Ooh, excellent chaps. No can do Tuesday but hope to get another one in before christmas.
  • Stage 3 passed, was good fun. Going to get booked up for stage 4 in next few days, with a view to getting it before mid December. Watched a winter league after our certification - looked such good fun (and fast!).
  • Stage one passed today... you'd have to be really bad not to get through. Stage two soon....
  • Good stuff Robbie!! First stage 4 I can do is 24 Jan - catch us up and do that too!!
  • Robbie too! great stuff. My membership hasnt been updated yet so cant book the next stage but would like to do it before Christmas and then will aim for the 24 Jan.
  • Stage Two. Passed. Whoop
  • Boom - well done Robbie - you'll love stage 3!!
  • Stage three passed - quite a few didn't get through.
Gonna do the club session on 6 December and booked onto stage four on 24 Jan too.
  • Well done to both Mitchy and Robbie on getting through this.

Guess you guys will be entering a local track league in 2016?
  • Not done yet Jeremy!! Still stage four to go. I'm booked in for 24th Jan, may try and change to 10th Jan work permitting - guessing this will be the hardest stage to pass, so nothing certain yet!

Went for stage four last night.... during first exercise a rider had a blow out. Pile up... I went high and avoided. One rider collided - now with broken bones. Session cancelled. Shows you have to have yr wits about you 100% of the time and be lucky!
  • Bloody hell. Who was it? Not big dude from brighton with ponytail? He was meant to race today and didn't - I'd nearly tried to book in at last minute. Scary stuff. Well avoided
  • Nicely avoided Robster. I am booked in for Stage 2 before Xmas and will try and get 3 done over the break if possible
  • Just got through the 4th accreditation. Fully qualified. It's a case of concentration that's all... and making it look easy. SQT's next (Specific Quality Training) ... gonna need to convert my road fixed to track. Think I'd be the only hiire bike rider. Apparently they're a big step up and pretty fast. Got some rollers too... all good fun.
  • good work!

keep your road bike setup Robbie. I have a spare track bike 853 steel which will fit you. I'll get it down there somehow.Good riding and well done on the miss.
  • Well done Robbie!!

I'm pretty nervous about my 4th stage, can't do it until 24 Jan - but fingers crossed - I've entered the police national omnium in Derby on 20 Feb - so better go ok!
  • Nice work Robbie. Suggest keep the Enigma set up for road. Good excuse to buy a new bike!
  • Many thanks Geoff! Quite easy to change the Van Nic- got track bars, good set wheels just need to get gearing higher with a new set of tyres. Then join the queue for training spots!
  • Kudos Robbie - well done! I'll be after tips - I'm having my first go in the velodrome next week :-)
  • Robbie, check that the Van Nic is suitable as a track bike, especially BB height. You don't need anything flash just track specific and whack on 50/15 and you'll be good to go.

Planet x are doing complete bikes from 799 and frame only from 299 which is bargainous. Might be better building up around something like that and keeping the Van Nic for the road.

    Planet x frames.
  • Got past Stage 2 last night and am thinking of 2 Jan for Stage 3.

There was an SQT session on before I rode and it was interesting seeing how these go. I real mix of riders with some smashing it and others having quite long breaks as they were buckled from earlier efforts!

Yeah! I saw them before my stage 2. Bit of a mix' but then that's ok.. means I may fit in! Lol
Well done on two! And I'm booked in for that same SQT on 2nd Jan. So you'll see another knacked odd ball.
  • Stage 3 passed tonight and it was good fun with some new things I hadn't been put through before such as stacking and changes in pairs. 18 riders turned up so we had two groups of 9 which made things more interesting due to the odd number and needing to sort things out amongst the group. All of my group passed but a couple from the other didn't get through. Hard workout at the end with one lap gains called for so I was coughing for a bit afterwards!!

Hope you had a good SQT Robbie:)
  • Good work JD. i had hoped to do level 3 in the same session but didn't work out. Hopefully will get it done soon probably once the cx finishes.

Also, remember everyone Welwyn Track league starts in April and is a very good league and a great place to get some race experience. I'm not sure London accreditation will automatically get you in but if you are indoor accredited I'm sure attending one of their training sessions will be enough.
  • Tim... Yes I'm well up for trying out the Welwyn Track league, and trying out the training sessions. More CCA the better!
  • Double success at Stage 4 this afternoon as Mitchy and I passed without any issues. Looking forward to some SQT time now and the next club session:)
  • Great to see a friendly face and another CC Ashwell rider today. Really enjoyed stage 4. Racing here we come....
