Bury CX

edited November 2015 in Cyclocross/Offroad
It looks like it will be fantastically wet and muddy tomorrow. On the basis that i have both boys with me and am heading straight to something in South London afterwards, does anyone know if there are any showers available at the school or shall i bring a big bucket of water?

    Hi Tim

    yes proper CX weather :-)

My gut feeling is no for the showers. I know it's the school but I think its only toilets that are open to us. Maybe contact Barry Denny

or just go for the big bucket of water

  • I think no showers too but looking at the forecast simply standing in the car park for 5 mins after the race should see you nicely washed down!
  • Yeah thats what i guessed. Looking forward to a car park shower!
  • Difficult, difficult, lemon difficult!

Weirdly no result up yet for the v40
  • yep that was tough conditions. Lot of cleaning up to do.

The seniors race was stopped early for a crash and ambulance needing access.

The weather cased a problem with the PDA's so they had issues uploading remaining results.
  • Oh dear, I hope the injuries were not serious.

Yes tough conditions. I confess I had to mouth expletives to get round; nearly came to grief at several points. (Including the cheeky move on the second corner I was copying from Archie Foulkes).

Had a great race though duelling with Tony Madgwick from LVYCC. He rode a smart race and held me off nicely but it was a cracking good battle. Finishing like that would have been good, but to add an extra sunny disposition to the day I got past him before the finish line.

Proper muddy day. I guess the course would have been worse for you V40 boys and even more slippy for the young 'uns race at 13:30.

Fit soft blocks for next weekend; Hempton can wear a rim out in one race!
  • Oh, that explains why no results yet. I wont be dissapointed if they dont appear as i dont think i had a great ride. Got away from the grid ok but got shoved off the off camber after the first corner and ran all of the first section ending up near the back.

It was quite good fun and some bits i worked out a good workable line but other bits i just couldnt get the hang of. The completely flat and straight bit with the man hole cover caused me problems as did the left hander at the bottom of the field. Think i had 3 offs but got my foot down each time so not total wipeouts.

It was fun watching people fall off at virtually every point of the course even perfectly flat straight bits.
Still havent cleaned the bikes yet, thats going to be fun!
  • Sounds interesting all and great to read your reports. i had a tense moment dashing from the car into the supermarket trying not to get drenched. it wasn't a good day to be racing in mud....

i went round the Greenway a couple of times this afternoon and ended up pretty mucky so when i got home decided i couldn't be bothered with the hosepipe so cracked out the JETWASH! whoever invented these marvellous toys was a genius.

i now have a set of very clean bikes, shoes and shins:)

He was very pleased but missed the official podium. So we did our own.
