Saturday 12th December 9.30am club ride

edited December 2015 in General
Well once again, there seems to be a Saturday morning weather conundrum, so could be doing anything tomorrow morning !

Assuming it's not storm Desmond all over again, lets head east(ish) for a change as we seem to have been doing a lot of south/west over the last couple of weeks....

Ashwell-bassingbourn-Fowlmere-Elmdon-Heydon-Barkway-coombe down-Ashwell (but prob without the pointless up/down of Coombe down!):38 miles

See you in the morning (maybe!)

  • I plan to meet en-route, probably around Fowlmere.

There are 2 new speed bumps just out of Litlington going on the Bassingbourn road. They are the sort that are in the middle of the road, so watch out.
There are also roadworks just before coming into Bassingbourn.
Maybe route through Abington Piggots to avoid both?

If we're avoiding the pointless up / down of Coombe it might be steel plus the good mudguards!

    See you tomorrow
  • Dismay at speed bumps on the chain gang circuit.

Are they going to impact on summer Tuesday's?
  • Probably not, I'm sure we can ride around a speed bump or two.
  • Cheers for the top tips Pete. Abbington Piggots it is then. See you in the fowlmere area!
  • Jeremy

Personally, I don't like the look of them (haven't ridden back that way yet because of the road works). It's partly the design / shape (square type in the middle of the road) and partly the location (just coming out from the one way system around the left hand corner).

    Cheers
    Peter
  • Sorry not coming out tomorrow Christmas fatherly duties. Re. The Litlington speed bumps. I drive down that way most days so knew they were there, but totally forgot yesterday when out on my bike and came close to hitting one unawares!

Cheers David and all. 9 out for a decent ride. Weather not too bad. Impressed that we did manage to find some strong wind just before crossing the 505.
Thanks to Emma for the shelter on the final run in. Bumped into Jenny who had done an extra station loop to join in with a final sprint but just missed us.
