Chantry Park CX

edited December 2015 in Cyclocross/Offroad
The latest round of the Eastern League was at Chantry Park, Ipswich today, the venue for the 2012 European Champs. Despite the recent heavy rainfall most of the the excellent course was rideable although getting tougher as the races went on. The mud slide descent through the woods was particularly fun. I thought it was one of the best courses of the season but others may not have enjoyed it. As luck would have it for Richard and myself the rain stopped and held off just long enough for our race! I just managed to get round without swapping bikes but it was getting clogged by the end.

A smaller CCA turnout today due to the clash with the National Trophy at Bradford. Particularly good results for Sam and Tom in the youth race and Daniel in the Grown Ups race.

Totally awsome day today. The course was really good, although on paper it was pretty boring. The woods were like a snarling, barking labrador; scary until you actually got close and then it was very friendly (though the wagging tail was that of your own bike).

I made a great bike change with the assistance of a hastily improvised, but excellent, pit man. Thanks Sam. Good job we'd practiced this on Wednesday!

I rode my last lap with Gary Houghton in close persuit; so many people were calling 'come on Gary' I almost joined in. He was the better rider and timed his attack very well. So I crossed the line totally spent but happy.

Well done everyone who rode. It was a tough course, but probably not as tough as Bradford....
  • Great results people, gutted to have missed this, hopefully get rid of this flippin cold soon.
  • Yes good day today. Had a really good race making time on the grass/mud but then I was useless in the woods and kept losing the time I had gained. For me the dog must have liked me as it wouldn't let go of my wheels making the drag out and up the hill a real slog.
Off now to practice my dog whispering skills ready for next week...
