Easter Saturday 9.30am club ride

edited March 2016 in Club runs
Hope everybody enjoyed the lovely sunshine today. Shame it looks like it's not going to last....

Rain and wind on it's way for the afternoon, so as its a SW wind lets head into it first and get blown home. Well that's the theory anyway......

If we head off toward Hitchin, there are a few more hedges so should be a bit more sheltered.

As its universally unpopular we are bypassing the evil that is Sharpenhoe hill, although we have got Hexton hill instead. Character building on winter bike!

See you in the morning

  • Dave and I are both still fighting the lurgy, so we won't be out tomorrow. Enjoy the ride, and hope you make it back before the rain starts!
  • See you at 9.30! Looks WINDY more than anything!
  • Think I may spend all morning riding north :-)
    Do plan to be there
  • Is that a record?
Being dropped within the first 5 miles?
I did make it to the top of Hexton Hill, but didn't see you there.

Only 8 of out today for a spin in the wind and drizzle. Amazing how much the weather can change in 1 day...

Headed off towards Hitchin on the route above into what we thought was a headwind. Clearly it wasn't as the closer we got to Hexton hill the more windy it got. Up and over top of a tough hexton hill we were greated with a now full on howling headwind and the cloud base had dropped so we were enveloped in mild, damp drizzle. Pressing on down the windy alley that was lilley bottom lane we finally turned the corner and got some much needed tailwind up whitwell hill and most of the way back to Ashwell via Baldock.

So 41 slightly moist miles @ 16. Big thanks to Nathan for his almost continual turn at the front, and Emma for her heroic turn all the way from lilley to Whitwell.

Also a spring/Autumn bike is definitely this years must have. Oh and good stuff on getting to Hexton hill Adam, we all thought you had called it a day in henlow!
