Welcome to the forum
SUBS DUE TOMORROW and a club reminder, please read.
Subs are due tomorrow, please see the sticky above for payment details.
Also, a little reminder and for those new to the club a word about how the club works. The club is run ENTIRELY by volunteers, it is merely a sum of its volunteers and the £15 really does little more than pay for affiliations and keep the forum running. Without the volunteers we dont have a club. We dont yet insist that people in the club volunteer, many clubs do and maybe we will need to look at this but it is implicit in being able to keep the subs at such a low rate that all members put something back into the club.
Its no good thinking that because you dont ride in CX, road racing, 3 cafes ride, TT's whatever, that you dont need to do your turn. You do, because being able to ride in club kit, use the forum, collect a badge etc, etc all requires volunteers.
Changes in the way races are run mean that more volunteers will be needed to put on events in the future. For example we will need a lot more help to run the 10's this year with more marshals required. There are plenty of people in the club spending over 10 hours every week volunteering and we do need to spread it around a bit more. Have you done a turn this year yet? If not there are plenty of things coming up that will need a bit of help, Wills road race being the first one, please put your hand up.
There are other ways to run a cycling club, for example the Rapha CC put on rides and races and have club kit but employ people to run it, run events and to marshal events and ask less of their members in terms of volunteering. The downside of course is that its £140 to join.
