Club 10 Results - 20/04/2016
A bumper turnout on what became a very chilly evening on a brisk Easterly wind. Top honours on the night went to Will with Jackie first lady and Travis best junior. Also definitely worth mentioning that Cam was on his road bike. Thanks to Gareth,Matt,Peter,Anita,Adam, and Tim for all the help. Feedback on the course seemed very positive but it is a fair bit more complicated to manage for those organising. Only basic result for the moment, please bear with me on the handicap situation and other details as I have some work to do.

But have to say big thanks to all those involved in making this happen this evening. Obviously the usual help of timers pushers and marshals. But more than that for all the work that has gone into the new course and HQ. It was really nice to have the social element before and after in the luxury of the village hall. I am sure this will get better as time goes on.
Thanks again
Stuart and Jackie
James I forgot to ask what is the score with the handicap? Is it starting from tonight or are you using last year course times?
Village hall...
It looked like the pre-school didn't get the message we were coming. Sorry about that. Hopefully we'll have the space to our own more from now on.
If anyone is going to open the fire door at the back: remember to close it when leaving. It was left open after I 'locked up'.
Thanks for no cleats on the wooden floor.
Remember... tea, coffee, hot choc, squash - is available at the back afterwards. Suggested donation 10p a cup. Unsure what happened to our tea/coffee stuff afterwards: but happy to stash that at my house if easiest.
Thanks for the tidy parking: no one was boxed in. Remember: some of the cars are locals.
We need a system in place for someone to open up with the key afterwards. One thought is to give the key to the marshall on the corner at Guilden to be picked up by the first rider back. Another thought is to give the key to the first rider off. Extra weight in pocket approx 2 watts extra effort.
One thing i noticed driving round especially on the Tadlow stretch was how much difference a good rear flashing light makes, its absolutely massive in its impact to drivers, everyone riding the 10 should have one no question. Whatever Steve J was using ( Richard L's good too) get one now.
1st time out on the TT bike this year and really enjoyed the new format.
The light I use is available here - no rear light on the market is brighter (or more expensive).

The cheap ones are just not bright enough for daylight use so don't be fooled.
Other good options are:
- Exposure TraceR
- Badger FlareR
- Lezne Strip
- Moon Nebula
Not a lot of money and fuss compared to a broken bone or two... The only reason I don't use one is because it doesn't fit under my saddle with the silly cervelo seatpost. Exposure tracer is a good one.
Big thanks to James and helpers for a very efficiently run operation.
Unfortunately I think the speed went to my head and I managed to ride off without handing my number back in - doh, sorry. Let me know if you want me to drop it off somewhere, otherwise I'll bring it next week.
Tim A
My light that Tim refers to is an Exposure TraceR which I have been very happy with.
Also have a long sleeve cca jersey left on the table, ill bring it next week.
Stuart
Anyone who rode last year will have a starting handicap based on their 2015 club best time. New riders are given a handicap based on their first ride.
Well done Travis as last week's winner with a pb by more than 2 minutes who will get a free entry for this week.
At the start, can everyone who is waiting to start make sure they are OFF THE ROAD. that is, behind the starter and pusher off on the track. Also could everyone riding up to the start ride up the hill in single file. I think last week it was difficult for traffic going down the hill to safely get through.
At the Toll Bar turn once you have had a good look right and stopped if necessary, it is vitally important to stay on the left hand side of the road. Apparently last week 2 riders rode on the centre line and one was well over it on the wrong side of the road. If you touch or go over the white line you will be disqualified and wont be given a time.
That was my track jacket ;-)
