North Road CC 25 mile open (F14/25)
Saturday past saw a fair few riders from CCA on the start sheet for the North Road 25. A bright but surprisingly chilly morning with a northerly wind wasn't the fastest day for the course but it didn't stop ex-CCA rider Ash Cox from absolutely smashing the competition record by over a minute, completing the 25 in 51 mins and 19 seconds, a time I'd be incredibly happy with on a pan-flat TT on a float day.
For those of you that don't know the course, it's pretty much the same as our club 10, instead of turning left before Wendy you ride all the way up to the A1198 and then take a left there followed by a left at the roundabout and back to the Wrestlingworth crossroads. 2 laps of that (including 3 times up the sharp hill after the long downhill drag as the finish line is further round the circuit) and you're done. We used this circuit as the our Hardriders TT this year.
Having ridden it on the road bike at the Hardriders and posting 1:02:30something I was looking to get under 55 mins on the TT bike with a silly skinsuit and disc wheel in etc. Just missed it, riding a 55:17. The times of the CCA riders were as follows:
4: Will Smith 00:55:17
10: Jason Stuart 00:59:27
15: Michael Martin 00:59:52
28: Steve Miles 01:01:54
31 =: Carmelo Luggeri 01:02:23
31 =: James MacKenzie 01:02:23
34: James Davis 01:03:25
46: Richard Glover 01:06:26
60: James Dow 01:15:54
Some great times, and good to see the club represented not only here but in the Peterborough CC open on the N1/10 on the same day.
Not sure if the entry is still open, but it's well worth having a look at the Hitchin Nomads open 25 which will be on the same course a week on saturday (28th May). It's a great course and our local...
