Road racing update from France
CCA's Charlie Passfield is currently training and racing in Picardie, riding as a guest alongside my brother's French club.
He finished an impressive 6th in a 120km 2/3 cat road race at Croissy recently - out of 120 riders on the start sheet...
In his words: “I was dropped 3 times, chased back before attacking with 5 others with 10k to go. It was really hard in the middle getting dropped in the cross winds up the climb for 3 consecutive laps. With 2 laps to go I started to feel better and attacked several times. The move eventually stuck after attacking on a descent with 5 others. It was harder than a National B in England to stay in the group”
Last weekend Charlie rode a two-hour 1/2/3 category town centre criterium run off at 26mph: "Was pretty hard. I just sat in the bunch throughout then got scared in the sprint with some mad French riders and finished around 25th".
He has one more race before returning home.
