Saturday 9th July 9.30am club ride

edited July 2016 in Club runs
Oh surprise, surprise it's another slightly uninspiring weather forecast for tomorrow morning !

Anyway, ignoring the Met office's overuse of the precipitation icon, it's probably going to be a bit breezy so lets head in a westerly direction and potentially get blown home

How about the excellent Ampthill/Stewartby route?

See you in the morning

  • Pre-ride coffee at Rhubarb
  • Ditto with PeteT.
  • 10 or maybe 12 of us out today (it was def an even number) for the spin out to Stewartby and back. As is now par for the course with this ride, it was brisk from the start and even the headwind on the way out didn't seem to trouble us much. Great climb out of Ampthill and a superb blast past milbrook chasing the 'virtual Emma' before we picked up the real tailwind and turn the brisk meter up to 11 all the way back to Ashwell.

Good to see 8am chaps on Langford hill and catch up with them in the Tuns garden.

So final tally was 50 miles @ 18.5. Great stuff chaps (no ladies with us today)

Oh and I won the sprint into Ashwell - that's definitely a first and probably the last :) :)
  • Cheers David and all for a good ride. Kept it nice and tidy except on the "virtual Emma's"
Nathan looking strong on his new steed
Good to have a catch up at the Tuns too.
Good sprint, and on your old bike too!
  • Sorry to have missed the rare sight in of Nathan's new bike...weather must have been good! Back next week, not sure I'll be up to that speed with the weight of US burgers though!
