middle group was 6 riders. lumpy and quite brisk start, bygrave, wallington, sandon, buckland, barkway, great chishill. then foxton, barrington and home. martin split off early as had to be back. 2 punctures for vince. then we split up on the run home. jon made a solo break, so succsefully that we never saw him again. vince and pete went the quick way home , mark c and i added a loop to clock 44 miles by the time we got back to ashwell at around 16.5 mph. i dont imagine thats much further or faster than the club run if anyone else fancies joining us next week.
hi steph..club run was some 12 riders.....39-40 miles two bridges with cardington loop..........easy and steady pace about 16mph..all together and close all the way..1 puncture..Andrew Skeen at Hinxworth...bad luck....good to see Andy B. back after his nasty fall.....a few other regulars back after the xmas. break.......Can't do club run next Sunday 31st as am on the track at Manchester.......cross-fit training on Tuesday as normal..school 7pm sharp start.....
A very select group of rider (if you can call 3 a group) set off at 9am. Carmelo, Ian & myself. I requested a Grafham route to allow me to 'drop off' on the way back as I had the in-laws around. Fairly light wind, bit of head, bit of side, bit of tail & lastly bit of side. Ian was a lttle ride rusty & started to suffer a litle on the hills near Grafham, so sat in the rest of the way.
I peeled off at Gamlingey with 67 miles on the clock, Carmelo & Ian should have had about the same by the time they got back to Ashwell.
Average speed was 17.5mph. We could have done with a copule of extra riders to share the work, so come on you slackers you know you want to leave the comfort of the 'club run' bosom & join the 'real riders' group.
hahahaha trahern...the REAL riders!!!!!!!.....I'm sure there are a few more up for a little faster and further.......I'm on a different schedule so the steady club rides through till feb/march suit that and am happy to keep running them and steady pacing them.......I propose to add a few more miles when everyone is happy, but the 9.30 start limits what we can do at club ride pace.........besides a fixie on 64" tends to spin my little legs off and too many miles isn't a good idea.
Just trying to see if I can whip up some interest in the old 'stirrer' award that Ken always used to win. Start the year controversially, and build from there!!!

I should be back in the middle group shortly, after 4 weeks off the bike i have been building back up on
the club run for the last 2 sundays but i am feeling better every day maybe this week if not next.
