  • Hello

I've had an idea... We really should go from London to the brilliant micro brewery in Letchworth... Garden City Brewery afterwards. Much more us.

It's a great place. And then we get a curry in Letchworth after? I've no idea where's good.

Sign up to the Doodle if you want to eat in the evening.

  • The plan for CCA's Xmas informal social is fairly sorted now...

1.30pm - Look Mum No Hands, 49 Old Street for lunch.
3.30pm - Lowlander, near Covent Garden. With possible coffee/mooch around Rapha Cafe in Soho before...
    6.23pm - ...train to Letchworth
7pm - Garden City Brewery, Letchworth, 'The Wynd'
9pm - Cab to Baldock for curry at Dine Bangla.

    If you want the curry: please put your name on this Doodle so I can book a table;

Thurs 22nd Dec. All welcome at any point in the afternoon and evening. Thanks.
  • Still not sure of my plans but im sure i can do some if not all, will probably be a bit last minute
  • I'll be working in London in the evening so will head in early and join you for various liquids (in moderation) before leaving you all to get a bit messy.
  • Looking forward to this. Not long now. There's quite a few coming along for some or all of it.

Peace of mind: I'd like to book Dine Bangla in Baldock this week. So any more for the curry, 9pm, add your name to t'Doodle. We can always add last minute/on the day - but want to just make sure we are more or less sorted.

  • We cant make it now so have removed our names from doodle. Have fun and try not to fall asleep into your curry!
  • Will drop by The Wynd to see what state you'alls in and say hello :-) Will pass on the curry though...
  • Remember ... don't drink and ride peeps! :)
  • Slapping in and out of London may be a bit much but will probably come for a few drinks/Curry in Letchworth, will update asap
  • I've booked Dine Bangla, Thurs 22nd, 9pm. I've added a few more than expected, so people can decide on the night over a pint of Banjax in the Garden City Brewery.

Looks like we have a fair crowd turning up, not least a sizeable festive group in the evening at the City Brewery. I look forward to seeing you there.

In the meantime, I'll be at the start of the fun in LMNH, 1.30pm.

If the weather holds and my workload allows, I may well ride in to London on that morning, after the rush hour, to Lea Valley velopark, take in a few spins of the road circuit [for just £4!]. Then tootle along the Regents Canal towpath to LMNH for lunch. I'd dump my bike in my London office or chain it at the station and pick it up next day. No bikes on trains out of London before 7pm y'see. Anyway. Just a thought right now. Might be a bit nuts. Maybe you fancy.

    Great stuff.

If any of the six remaining cyclists in the entire Eastern region not going to Thetford fancy, I'll be riding to the Lea Valley Velopark (about 45 miles) for a few mid morning laps of the road circuit. I expect we'd have the whole thing to ourselves. For just £4 each! Then tootle along the Regent's canal to securely park my bike very near King's Cross, to pick up the next day. King's Cross to LMNH is a simple 10 minute boris bike away, in good time for lunch.

Or come along for the morning and ride back or get the train back from King's Cross.

7.30am leaving Guilden, looking to miss the London rush hour.
    7.45am passing Ashwell
8.10am passing Moon & Stars car park, Rushden. Meeting Matt S.
8.20am passing Cromer. Good point to meet any Letchworth/Baldock riders.
    10.30-11am Velopark

Forecast for now is fine, considering.
  • I will be in the Garden City Brewery from 6.00. Sounds like there will be quite a few takers so look forward to catching up with everyone.
  • I'll now join you Letchworth - see you all at 6pm
  • I'm training it in for the freeloader lowlander at Covent Garden woopwooop
  • Gonna be a gonna by 7pm as have folks visiting so need to spread my love on both sides of the toast today
  • Martin aka The Pig, Thanks for organising an awesome Xmas do. Great ride in, circuit laps, canal adventure and boris bike sprints. Great CCA company and converstation at all the stopping points, London, Letchworth and Baldock. One to remember
  • Indeed, thanks Martin. Great to catch up with all you lovely CCA people and thought that the Garden City Brewery was ace, will be heading back there soon i hope.
  • Thanks all for a top day and evening. I think the format works pretty well: something for everyone when you have the Letchworth evening option for those unable to get to London.

Had a good morning on the bike too, once my hands had thawed out around Cuffley. It was effortless to get on to the road circuit track at the Velopark. Cafe, free lockers, it's got it all.

Maybe we'll do a Springtime return to the Letchworth Garden Brewery? Any other social ideas for the Club in 2017 are welcome.
