Welcome to the forum

Saturday 17th December 9.30am club ride

How about heading west(ish) tomorrow and doing an undulating sort of route:

Ashwell-Clifton-Mepershal-Shillington-Hexton-Lilley-Whitwell-Baldock-Ashwell (40 miles)

http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/934383111

could also return from Lilley via Ley Green/Preston for a change (same mileage)

Been suffering with Man flu all week, so might not be 100%. Just wait for me at the top of Hexton hill :)

See you tomorrow

  • Looks good, David. Thanks. Should be out. See you at the Tuns.
  • The bike is all tinsel-ed up and ready to go!
  • Thanks for the route, Dave. Enjoyed that. And good company too. Have a good break over Christmas and see you back in the New Year.

Christmas party season is def in full swing, so just 7 of us out this morning for the morning spin to (almost) the Chilterns and back.

Bit of a foggy, grey start, but got better as we went along and even saw some sunshine at one point. Mind you when you have got tinsel on your handlebars, who needs sunshine !! Even better that the weather though were the chocolate coins that DaveN skilfully transported for us all to consume in Alan's specialty selected layby :)

Alternative route on the way back through the back of beyond near Luton & the fun dip down and up from St Ipolyits !

All nicely rounded off with some festive T in the Tuns and a guest appearance from EmmaK who managed her first on road cycle since her accident - all the way from Baldock to Ashwell !!

So a shade under 40 miles @ 15ish. Thanks all for a great December morning.

And happy Christmas all - see you in 2017
  • Brilliant ride, really enjoyed that. Thanks David for the tow up Hexton hill. Great to see Emma out, never one to take it easy, riding a bike with some kind of tractor tyre...Must be good training!

I should be out next Saturday if anyone fancies a slightly shorter/easier option to the festive 50.
  • likewise a great ride, sun, murk and slimy roads. I will try to get out Xmas eve for some more festive frolics.
