Saturday 18th Feb - 9.30am club ride

edited February 2017 in Club runs
Could it be almost spring tomorrow.....

Lets make the most of the better weather and do the classic mini-egg route

Ashwell, Sandon, buntingford, Hare street, Clavering, Newport, Gt Chishill, Barkway, Therfield and Ashwell (43 miles)

Getting a bit tired of extreme bike cleaning on a Saturday arvo, so hopefully this route will be a bit less grimy than the last few rides (famous last words !)

See you in the morning, dig out that spring kit :)

Slimmed down turnout today for the advertised 'spring' ride. Think we might have been mis-sold the next season thing though cos it was pretty chilly and indeed winter like for most of the ride. Maybe the met office meant spring in Alaska?

Started off on the mini-egg route, but with with DaveWs p******* and a crazy horse in Brent Pelham that took 15 minutes to go 100ft mainly sidewards and backwards we decided to do an abridged route through Arkensden and littlebury green.

Pacey the way round, so by the time we got to Barkway my legs had just about given up the ghost. So I tootled back to Ashwell while the remaining quintet dashed on. Mind you, they had only been back in the Tuns about 5 mins when I got there, so maybe I was tootling faster that I thought :)

So even though we did the abridged version, it was actually longer than the proper route - whoops! Finally tally was 44 miles @ 16 and a leg reviving pint of the Tuns finest cola to get me back over the Bygrave hills.

Thanks all for a fun, if not at all springlike, morning :)
