Hitchin Nomads open 25 on Guilden course 27th May 2017

For those that may not have seen it - the Hitchin Nomads are running an open 25 TT on our usual Guilden course on 27th May. I've entered and there is one other CCA rider so far - 3 are needed for a chance of any team prizes.
As its local and familiar to most it may be a good one to enter - closing date 16th May.

  • Hi Emma, I've entered the E2/25 on that day. I'll probably get rejected for not having a fast enough time (irony of not getting onto fast courses as you're time is not quick enough!) but have a 10 the next day.
  • E2/25 is the 28th btw..
  • Have entered...not sure if I'll be much use in team prize though!
  • Sorry, yes the E2/25 on Sunday & a 10 on Monday in Stowmarket
  • You should get in as it's ECCA clubs only plus 150 riders...good luck!
  • I've entered both the ECCA 25 and Nomads as the E2/25 is early doors and the F14/25 in the afternoon. What could possibly go wrong!
  • As seems to be the norm this year – glorious weather all week which turns for the worst at about 1pm on a Saturday. Well this Sat certainly wasn’t any different with a ridiculous gusty wind that didn’t seem to be in any one direction other than swirling frantically over Guilden in excess of 20mph.
I thought I’d turn up and give it a go anyway (20 people didn't) - the familiarity with the course should surely give me some advantage. In fact not knowing may have proved to be better – with the start just past Wrestlingworth crossroads the exposed downhill stretch with crosswinds had to be tackled three times. Some people have nerves of steel and don’t seem to be affected - as it turns out, I don’t! I pretty much did the whole course sitting up and trying to stay upright but still did enough to come in 3rd lady and just 5 secs off my course PB. Just imagine what could have been……at least it was character building.

CCA times were as follows (72 riders finished):

    Jason Stuart 57:43 (11th)
    Brendan Ronayne 58:17 (15th)
    Jmac 60:51 (27th)
    Carmelo 63:47 (44th)
    Emma K 66:37 (3rd lady, 49th)
    Robert Bumstead 67:06 (51st)

Hitchin Nomads did a spectacular job with the organisation both on the road and at the village hall and had a very impressive cake display which was very much welcome.
  • Well done all. I think Brendan smashed one of his season's targets.

Some good photos here if you havent seen them & it reinforces your report Emma (sitting up). https://michaelwebb-photography.smugmug.com/Hitchin-Nomads-Open-25-TT-May-2017/
