Tour of Hertfordshire Series - the Hertfordshire Club Relay Championships
We've received the following invitation... post on here if anyone wants to form a CCA team...
This Year’s Tour of Hertfordshire Series sees the third running of the Hertfordshire Club Relay Championships and we are hereby inviting your Club to take part. A 3 rider relay race for the Herts Club relay championship trophy. In Year 1 the relay took place at the Welwyn Garden Petit Tour and was won by Welwyn Wheelers. In Year 2 at the BRE Cyclefest it was won by Watford Velo Sport. This year it will take place at the Stevenage Revolutions.
Date: Monday 29th May at Round one of the Tour of Hertfordshire Series, Stevenage Revolution
Time: 12.25pm
Entries: FREE (entries are secured prior to this by emailing events@kineticcycles.co.uk to accept your club’s place).
We are able to offer this event as free of charge partly because we believe in promoting our healthy club scene in Hertfordshire but also because we anticipate members of your relay teams will want to watch the elite events later in the day.
Team
Each Club may enter one team only which must comprise:
• An Under 16 (Youth)
• A adult rider age 18 – 45
• A Master rider over the age of 45
*One rider must be female
Race Format
3 lap team relay (1 lap per rider) – following the above order.
• LAP 1 - U16
• LAP 2 – Adult Rider
• LAP 3 - master/veteran
All teams race at the same time and must race in the above order. The first club to finish is crowned Hertfordshire Club Relay Champions and get to keep the trophy for a whole year and have their club’s name forever engraved on it.
Rules:
1/ One team only per club. You do not have to be a BC registered club. You may be a triathlon club for instance.
2/ All 3 riders must be wearing your recognised club kit (so as to avoid the need for numbers in this event)
3/ Either BC race licences or a form of age/DOB based ID must be to hand on the day to prove the age of each competitor in your team should there be any 'uncertainty' shall we say.... We expect all teams to play fair though.
4/ ‘Ringers’ / drafted in club members are allowed so long as they are racing in your club kit and happy to be included as part of your club. We are saying that this year because we are aware that not all clubs have official U16 and female riders.
Finally, I would like to point out that this is as much a demonstration event to show off our brilliant clubs as it is a serious championship. That also means that we expect you to ride and compete fairly and have fun without anyone being unnecessarily ‘taken out’ in a corner for instance. This doesn’t mean you can’t race ‘full on’ though as we’d want nothing less. We just want to see everyone finish as well!
Please do consider taking part and finding your perfect team of 3 even if that means drafting in kids and associated people to make up your team. Please do ensure they are in the same kit though.
Of course your riders may well want to take part in some of the other activities and events during what will be a brilliant event as well and that would make sense so as to make a real day of it.
I really do hope you can join us and please do ensure your club members are aware that we now have the biggest cycling series of its kind anywhere in the UK with hours of closed road cycling action this summer in amazing locations. It’s all at www.tourofhertfordshireseries.com and your help in ensuring that your members know is crucial. It’s a completely non-profit series and it’s all about getting more people on bikes and giving them even more opportunities to ride (and ride fast).
