Saturday 27th May 9.30am club ride
Going to be a bit on the toastie side tomorrow. Might even be warm enough for me to ditch the arm-warmers
So how about doing a reverse of the Watton/Hertford route we did for the first time a few weeks ago
Ashwell, Sandon, Buntingford, Westmill, Cherry Green, Nasty, Dane End, Sacombe, Stapleford, Bramfield, Bulls Green, Datchworth, Watton, Walkren, Cromer, Slip End, Ashwell 47 miles
Here is the Garmin route to give us a hand with navigation

Luckily, the taps were turned off by 9.30 so we damply set off on the route above. Uphill to start and possibly the most long winded way in history to get from Ashwell to Buntingford. Still nobody was complaining at we were heading ever closer to the patch of blue sky in the distance. Lovely traffic free roads south of Westmill & a top 10 refreshment break just north of Stapleford.
From there we mysteriously starting climbing again, and it was pretty much uphill all the way back to Ashwell. Mind you by this point there was a tasty tailwind, so we sailed along despite the gradient. Highlight of the ride had to be the slip end sprint though, never been down that road so quick. No surprise though that Nathanial took the honours, prob could have beaten us all just using one leg
So 48 @ 17 and some post ride refreshment in the Tuns. Thanks all, top stuff
Oh yes, and today's lesson is that dry lube is completely useless unless it's urm..... dry !!
Nice sheltered route
