Club night, Tues 1 August, Three Tuns 8-8.30pm or so

Hi all

A reminder: it's the monthly Club night. Three Tuns. Sometimes in the back room if need be.

Come on down to catch up with others. There's no formal thing on - just banter. From about 8pm. Recent Club achievements... Upcoming stuff... Wells ride, Interclub, 2018 plans etc etc.

It's the chaingang beforehand at 7.30pm: double-whammy?

I won't be bringing the kit down. I can more easily get that to the Weds TT eve at Guilden Morden village hall if need be. Or email martin@ccashwell.com

cheers

FYI, me n' Dave W will be at the Club night to discuss Tour of Malta 2018, 22-25 March, if anyone wants to chat. Probably the most accessible, proper international GC stage race for most of us.

Mitchy's keen: he's already booked flights and accommodation, even though registration doesn't open til October. It does mean he's got a bargain and it's going to cost him like 50p for the whole trip or something.

A nice summary of the ToM from one of this year's racers, a 61 year-old, below.

He came 34th in the Masters GC, out of 47. As some kind of barometer, I calculate his Stage 1, 9.5 mile TT, averaged 21.84mph in 26m 06s.

That average for a 10 mile TT would be a time of 27m 28s.

Under 40? Then you'll be in the Elite races. Fear not: you might not be in the front group, but I'd say most CCA riders would be in contention further down the pecking order in the 'race within the race' Maltese bunch who have their own separate GC fight.

I'll also be around to talk about the Wells ride in Sept.

I expect others will want to talk Cross. I will try and dabble again this season.

    Come on down!

And see you before it all on the chaingang: sunsheeine forecast.
