Saturday 12th August 9.30am club ride

Went on a new route finding mission last Sunday, and have come up with this gem of a ride. Def some roads we have never been on before on a Sat club ride & a mystery surprise in the middle for you all to enjoy ;)

Ashwell, Newnham, Norton, Icleford, Pirton, Barton Le Clay, Pulloxhill, Silsoe, Upper Gravenhurst, lower stondon, Henlow, Langford, Ashwell (42 miles)

Hopefully this Garmin course will work, otherwise we could get very lost in Bedfordshire :)

See you tomorrow!

Bumper turnout yesterday for the new Sat club run route. Think it might have been the excitement of the mid ride surprise.

Out into the wind through Letchworth & past Hitchin lavender which according to reports is a major tourist attraction for Chinese tourists. Who would have believed that ! Then it was through icleford on the worse road in the county and then onto Pirton and up and down to Barton le clay.

After Barton we journeyed into the unknown & hit the mystery ride surprise which was the 15% ramp of Pulloxhill ;) Not sure quite what people were expecting although a Hooters in Silsoe was a pretty random suggestion !!

So after more excellent new country lanes it was a brilliant downhill tip all the way from Shillington to Henlow before a pacey blast up Langford hill & a wind up down loves lane for Tim and Simon to duel it out for sprint honours.

So 42 @ 17 & some roads that will def be used in future club runs. Thanks all for a great morning.
  • I guess Hooters in Silsoe would have been a big surprise (or possibly two !). I thought you might have discovered a new coffee & cake stop, but the 15% 'er was the next best thing.
