CCA Open 10 mile TT N&DCA, Sat 16 Sept 2017 promoted by CCA.

edited September 2017 in Time Trial
The last race in the N&DCA series takes place on Saturday 16th September pm and is once again to be promoted by CC Ashwell.

N&DCA 10 Mile TT (9 of 9)

As in previous years this will be on the F15 Brogborough course (the one normally used for the Inter club 10)
Last year we had 17 riders in the field - all welcome.

We will need time keeper assistants, marshals, pushers off and others (in total about 9) in order to run the event. Please post on this thread if you can spare the time to support this major club event - the race starts at 2pm, many thanks.

  • I can help JMac don't mind pushing off and might ride on road bike plus clip on bars
  • I'm not riding so happy to help.
  • Hi James. I can help.
  • JMac - is this the proper course or the roundabout version due to roadworks?
  • @JMac have checked and we are in Surrey- sorry
  • Hi James could I please have the postcode of the signing on point .see you on Saturday
    rob
  • Hi James, happy to marshall if it doesn't involve using my brain too much...
  • Thanks all we seem to be shaping up quite nicely - I just need to assign tasks which I shall do shortly.
  • Unfortunately I've just had a bit of work come in so can't help out now, sorry JMac!
  • James - I can help.
  • James, I mentioned I could be available. If you need additional hands, let me know and I can juggle something domestically.
  • For those that are riding, start sheet is up on CTT
  • It slightly depends wether we need to use the road works course or not but roughly the plan is:

    Dave,Jenny,Dave,Sandie roundabout marshals
    James D,Andy - start
    Stef,Tim - finish
    Roz, James - HQ
    Gareth as necessary after riding

Thanks very much - look forward to seeing you by 1.30pm.
  • I hope we use the normal course as i've been bulking for the downhill section.
  • James - can you provide the HQ location please, I've not been to this course before.
    Thanks!

A few have already offered to bring cake, all offers will be gratefully received
  • I'll bring cake with me
  • Thanks James and all the marshalls for a great event yesterday. Appreciate all the hard work that goes into these events and standing in the cold and wet for hours.

Not my greatest race but after the best part of a month doing very little I'm glad to have finished. Lots of DNSs but also a couple of very fast times on a very wet race.

We ended up with 2nd team on the day but no idea on the end result for the overall team of the season.

I think I've also done enough for 3rd in the overall league and miss out on 2nd by a point.

Thanks again James and marshalls. I plan on helping out/marshalling more in 2018.

    Gareth
  • Thanks James. Good event as usual despite the grim weather. Thanks to the marshals for standing out in that.

Not the best of surfaces in places and a lot of standing water but think I managed a PB!!

Well done to all on their individual achievements and the team. Lets hope we held on to 1st place for the series.
  • Marshall's deserve a medal for standing in that foul weather. Some great encouragement also from Dave and Jenny at the turn which was much appreciated although didn't stop my legs from dying over the last couple of miles!

Thanks James and everyone else for organising and running the event. Course PB for me. I'll take that small victory given the amount of riding I've actually done this year!

Despite the weather this event ran very smoothly thanks to our close knit team of dedicated helpers (Dave,Jenny,Dave,Sandie,Stef,Tim,Andy,James,Roz) also Robert who did early car park duties and Gareth who kept an eye on my maths at HQ.

Flapjack and cake donations were eagerly consumed making a nice profit of £46 for the club, thank you to everyone who contributed.

65 starters out of a field of 94 with several who signed on and then pulled out of going to the start line, the rain was patchy and heavy at times but those who rode managed fine with only one dnf due to a puncture.

Full provisional result may appear on the Time Trialling Forum later - CCA results as follows:

    8 Steven Jennings 22:04
    11 Gareth Davies 22:10
    27 Jackie Field 23:03
    43 Noah Field 24:30
    47 Matthew Scales 24:48
    48 Stuart Field 24:56
    49 Robert Bumstead 25:34
    Emma Koppe dns
    Janet Bassett dns
    Mark Constable dns

Steve, Gareth and Jackie were 2nd team
    Jackie won Women's and X-Cat
    Noah 3rd Junior
and PBs for Matt, Stuart and Robert so everyone got something out of the day.

    Series results as follows (tbc):

    Overall - Gareth 3rd
    Women's and X-Cat - Jackie - 1st
    Women's - Emma - 3rd
    Y-Cat - JMac - 1st
    Junior - Noah - 1st
    Women's team - 1st
    Men's team ??

Well done everyone :awesome: - time to get ready for the Pyrenees!
