Grass track recovery

a message from Geoff...

Until further notice the area of the grass track circuit is out of bounds. No cycling is permitted on the track.

After several seasons hard use it is now undergoing maintenance. Reseeding and weed management are under way.

Shelton Pell will notify the club when the track is fit for use.

The perimeter and out field including lumps and bumps are still available to use for mtb, cyclocross and muddy monsters.

Kind regards

Geoff

  • Please can the club be advised when it is expected that the grass track be available to use again?
  • when the new grass has established itself Daniel. Shelton and Tim Hector have this in hand. Watch this space for updates.
  • Great, thanks everyone. Much needed work with all the use it's had this year. I'm not sure if the organiser is Mark or Dave but the Spring event on the 12th May has gone live and we've been given a round of the National league. Should look awesome for that.
  • Mark is organising the spring event for which we have been given a round of the national endurance league. I'm organising the autumn event for which we have been given a round of the national short distance league. Two nationals at Ashwell!
  • We should be ok. Just bear in mind that seed has to chit, root and establish sufficient that cutting and thickening can happen. Without a secure rooting the new grass will just tear out. Tim has spread soil to level the worn track and this when ready will need rolling.
That is why noone must ride on the track until you are told otherwise. Please make sure that everyone understands this.
