Saturday 14th October 9.30am club ride
Supposedly there is going to be some sort of October heatwave on the weekend - I'll believe it when I see it ! Anyway, should still be good for the summer bike (and maybe shorts !) so lets squeeze another summer ride.
How about the Saffron Walden ride, but rather than going through Clavering we go a bit off piste and try not to get lost in the Pellhams
Ashwell-Bungtingford-Hare St-Little Hornmead-Furneux and Stocking Pelham-Berden-Rickling-Newport-S Walden-Littlebury-Gt Chishill-Barley-Therfield-Ashwell

If somebody could download the garmin route and give me a hand with navigation around the Pelhams that would be great
See you in the morning

Anyone for a coffee stop at Bicicletta if its not too busy...?
Having the GPX is game changing. Know where you’re going!
Brisk on the way out, tailwind and a lot of downhill to Saffron helped. Lanes around the mysterious Pellham triangle were also superb. Great road surface and very little traffic. Glad to have the Garmin though as I didn't have a scooby where I was
And then it was the long and pretty hilly slog all the way back. Not helped by the p******* fairy making a couple of appearances too. Finally though we made it to the Therfield summit and it was downhill all the way back to Ashwell.
So 52 lumpy miles @ just over 16. Thanks all for an excellent morning, great company and superb weather, what could be better
Oh and here is the Furneux Pellham shooting story - very odd indeed https://www.theguardian.com/uk/2012/nov/05/convicted-murderer-jailed-army-officer
