The last TT - Thruxton Circuit champs
Today marked the last TT race of the season for Jackie. (don't think she is keen to do any of that hill climb malarkey)
The RTTC held the 4th circuit championship at the motor racing circuit at Thruxton this morning. Over 300 riders across all categories. This made for interesting viewing as each rider had to complete 5 laps making a total of 11.7 miles. Dry but overcast with light winds and very mild for this time in the year made for probably ideal conditions. The race was chip timed which was a necessity as there were a lot of riders on the course at any one time starting at 30 second intervals. Jackie finished in 26.53 (3 of her laps with identical splits). This was good enough for joint first place in the vets, 1st in age and 8th overall women.
Good way to finish a successful season with her 8th National medal.

Was a bit nervous about the number of riders on the circuit at the same time but just had to pre-empt peoples lines going through the corners and couldn't always take quite the line you wanted but all in all it's not everyday you get to blast around a racing circuit. Damon Hill managed the lap in 57.6 secs @ 147.25 mph - so I was a bit off the pace but happy to have given it a go and now very glad to put the TT bike in a corner for a few months :-)
