  • James, have you got the dates for all the other Inter-Club events? For some reason I thought this one was on 17 June! I'll sign up for this, but I'm not sure I'll be able to do it.

Come on everyone, we have a title to defend!

  • If anyone would like to buy a (cheap) long sleaved Endura Skinsuit (XL) or a Short Sleaved TMG (L) skinsuit please let me know?

I’ll put the contribution towards a charity called Cardiac Risk in the Young which is a charity close to my heart (pun intended!)
  • I'll be riding, is the course confirmed? shame the normal one isnt on, i really enjoy it
  • I downloaded the course from the BBRC website and did a recce this evening - I think you took a look over the w/e too @DavidJ? The road between Upper Caldecote and Ickwell is completely impassable and won't be open by next weekend: looks like they're replacing the roadway over a small bridge, so the foreshortening of the route to 11.3 miles is certain, or they'll need another route altogether. By my calculation, the 11.3 mile point is the turn at Upper Caldecote to Ickwell itself.
  • I suspect you should have turned left into Old Warden earlier. Then into Ickwell, Northill, Cople, and Cardington. Back to the clubhouse is 11.3 miles.

  • That’s the same circuit that the Primavera used to run on, if that helps...
  • This email just received from Beds Road organisers:

    "Hi All,

Roadworks on our usual Inter-Club course has meant we are moving to our 11.3 mile loop which conveniently starts and stops outside our clubhouse.
Could you please put a note out to your riders to be sure they are aware of the changes and that they familiarise themselves with the course.
    .
I'd also like you to ask your members to take a look at the bookings we have received so far...
    https://bedsroad.org/spoco_start_sheets.php

If they aren't on there and want to ride, they need to book at https://bedsroad.org/enter_spoco.php before 5pm this Friday.

Their names will appear on the list within 20 seconds, so if anyone has any trouble booking, please let me know.

I'll try to have the start sheet available on https://bedsroad.org/spoco_start_sheets.php during Friday evening.

    Thanks and regards,

    Graham Laming

  • @wilburtrump after all those recent miles to Blackpool tower and back if you're available you should drag yourself around :)

    Great effort BTW
  • Remember everyone this is a numbers game and one of the aims of the Inter club is to get non regular testers to have a go.

There are plenty of much more inexperienced riders from the other clubs in the field and from what I normally see on any club run I've been on, no Ashwell rider could possibly be out of place as there is no specialist kit required and no specialist times needed - lots of roadbikes and non pointy helmet will be turning up.

In addition the new points system has raised the rewards for female riders and we only have 2 in the field at the moment compared to 5 from Beds road.

So come on, give it a try and encourage your fellow club members to come long as well.

  • Sorry if I am letting the side down, but I am not going to take part in the Inter-Club today. I did the Tour of Cambridgeshire TT yesterday and it has left me exhausted. Given the way I've been feeling over the past couple of months, I don't think it would be wise to risk it.

I have emailed the organisers to let them know. Good luck to everyone taking part.
  • Results are available:

Well done everyone and provisionally looks like a pretty good result considering but we'll await the official points to see how we fared.
