edited July 2018 in Chain gangs
How good has this summer been? Well, below are the soundbites from the forum’s weather predictions for each of the last 15 weeks of CCA chaingang action, going back to mid-April. Amazing.

Week 1
'This evening is going to be nice weather…'

Week 2
'Forecast is warm and quite breezy from the south.'

Week 3
'The forecast is now pretty good.'

Week 4
'Weather looks good.'

Week 5
'Weather looks absolutely fantastic…'

Week 6
'Looking like a lovely evening!'

Week 7
'Weather looks good, if a touch breezy.'

Week 8
'Keeping an eye on the weather forecast and rain radar - but fingers crossed it won't be bad weather by this evening.’ (It was dry... just!).

Week 9
'Sunny forecast.'

Week 10
'Sunny forecast.'

Week 11
'Very warm and not too windy...'

Week 12
'The forecast is super hot with only a light breeze.'

Week 13
'The forecast is super hot with yet another easterly.'

Week 14
'The forecast is OK with yet another easterly.'

Week 15
'The forecast is Good.’

And for this evening, Week 16? 'Red hot.'

I think there may be 4 laps available as the skies will be clear. Bring lights, and liquids.

The chaingang leaves Ashwell 7.30pm, and meets others at Steeple Morden around 7.35pm. All welcome.

  • All being well I’ll catch a lap or two at the end.
  • I’ll try and come. I’m cooked though, keen for maybe one hard hard lap
  • Well done team. On lap 3 the call went out to right royally put the hammer down. We duly buried ourselves while keeping as a solid, rotating unit.

We completed the lap on 26.3mph average, smashing the previous record.

The murmurings afterwards were that we think we could have gone even faster... The next warm evening: be there!

  • scary stuff guys.
Interesting to reflect that is average speed of TdeF entire race.
According to Boardman 30mph is average speed for the last 50 kilometers.
