8th May Evening Club 10 TT Results

edited May 2019 in Time Trial
After early rain, the afternoon turned fair but showery with sunny spells. Although there were some ugly looking clouds around us as race time approached, we had no rain during the event. So apart from a few drying puddles, the only other element to contend with was a breezy South to South Westerly, which tugged at the competitors as they returned up the B1042. This helped explain why - with a few exceptions - the times were a shade slower than last week.

That is, all except Mr. Marriage who smashed his PB set last week, and then jumped on it and gave it a solid kick for good measure: a full 3 minutes 3 seconds faster and a worthy Handicap Winner for the week. But no clean sweep for him as our returning Handicap Champ, Mr. Bumstead "The Guvnor" took the fastest Vet (off Standard) honours - Happy Birthday by the way.

Other notables were our new Club member, Mr. Young - welcome to you, sir - who continues to bang in the solid 22 minute rides as our overall Mens' winner on the night. Ms. Andrews was fastest Lady and Mr. Ayers best Junior: well done both. And I believe we saw a first outing for Mr. Chitu, perhaps tempted by the FREE entry for 1st claim Club members? And we welcomed back an old friend of the Club, Mr. Rosa who put in a spritely 23. Nice to see you.

The Handicap is starting to take shape, but I will tease you with that for another week before publishing the rankings via our new website.

The times were as follows (all CCA unless indicated otherwise).
1. M. Young 22.53
2. N. Rosa (Active Edge, PTT) 23.48
3. G. Askew 24.18
4. M. Scales 25.23
5. R. Bumstead 25.39
6. D. Marriage 25.48
7. T. Chitu 26.37
8. T. Ayers (J) 27.37
9. J. Andrews (F) (Road bike) 28.23
Thank you to our helpers on the evening, Mr. Allen, Mr. Ronayne, Mrs. Lewis and Mr. Ayers Sr. (who is also our local weatherman!). Please check out the Doodle poll which you can access via the TT Season announcement at the top of the Forum. Remember folks, "Ride It, Run It". Mr. Allen and Mr. Ronayne will each be awarded their Season average Handicap points for the up to two races that they help run, this being one.

See you next week!

Well done all for turning up and giving it full gas, when the weather looked threatening.
