Orchid Ride, Sunday 13th June

edited May 2010 in Sportives
Hi all,

Stevie and I will be riding the Orchid Ride from Billericay in Essex on Sunday 13th June. This is in aid of fighting male cancer. www.orchid-cancer.org.uk. There is a 20, 40, 75 and 100 miler. I will be doing the 75 miler from 8am as I am running some youth racing in the park later.

The 40 miler might be good for our youth riders.

The Grass Track Racing (freewheel) might be good for younger youth members.

Mark,

  • Hi,

Stevie and I rode this event on Sunday. The route is glorius, lots of lovely meandering lanes. We took a wrong turning after a refreshment stop and ended up doing about 83 miles in the end but it was a great ride. Beer Tent and live music to greet us back.

I would throughly recommend this as a target for the blue train next year. There are no significant climbs, just a few drags so I reckon the 100 miles could be done in under 5 hours by a well organised train. All for a good cause too.

The 40 miler looks idea for a youth blue train.

    Mark.
  • sounds a goer Mark......maybe we need to create a calendar of the clubs favourite rides and see where we can include youth also..would be a great series of events........
