Inter Club 30 - UPDATED Report and Analysis
In the end we had a solid team of 14 out on a warm day with a light easterly breeze for 1 hour 20 minutes give or take of full-on effort on an undulating course in Central Bedfordshire to do battle against our traditional foes of Bedford, Hitchin, St. Neots and Icknield RC.
UPDATE: If you follow the link in @TimA's post to the HNCC website below there's a button for the results sheet. The Team won the event for the second event running! Individually we placed four in the top 10 with Ms. Koppe, Mr. Ronayne, Mr. Stuart and Mr. Lawless - see the yellow boxes in the CCA column. Mr. Ronayne especially was on it! And see also how we're clustered towards the top in the teens? so, Mr. Mitchinson, Mr. Askew, Mr. McLeish and Mr. Luggeri all added handsomely to our total.
But now look a little closer. The yellow boxes are - if you like - the "positive" points scorers, but look at the CCA column and at the points "scored" in the grey boxes. Everyone of those grey boxes in the CCA column that is above a yellow box in another column took points off the other clubs! So, take a bow Mr. Allen, Mr. Bumstead, Mr. Chitu, Mr. Keen, Mr. Miles and Mr. Wright. Everybody, but everybody "scored", either "postively" or in taking points away from the other teams' totals. Everyone contributed. This truly was a TOTAL TEAM PERFORMANCE!
There were some lovely cameo stories along the way: Mr. Ronayne shouting an expletive at himself to gee himself up 100 yards off the start line, though not completely out of earshot :-); Mr.Lawless's finishing straight celebration at holding off a fast approaching Mr. Stuart; Mr. Mitchinson on a road machine just back from breaking his collarbone, so having difficulty pulling on the bars up hill; Mr. Luggeri's 1.18 with one tri-bar, the other having come detached half way around; Mr. McLeish's and Mr. Allen's impressive first outings at anything above 10 miles, I believe?; a great time from Mr. Chitu on a road bike; Mr. "Flatback" Keen out after a 69 miler on Saturday - check that position, kids! :-); A characterful effort from Mr. Miles only a week back after a two week holiday and racing yesterday too; and the flying bandana that is Mr. Wright, who afterwards looked spent - great effort!

End of the first lap Andy got a thumbs up from me, after that it was just grimaces followed by a little cramp near the end and a 37kph average speed.
After that it was back to the hall for coffee and cake.
Great support amongst the CCA crew and some great results, as Andy said lets wait for the final results
