FINAL Ashwell CX Series Race: Thurs 29 August: Kids, Novice, Ladies, Senior races! ALL WELCOME! /// Mondays: Grass Track /// Tuesdays: Chaingang /// Wednesdays: Time Trial /// Thursdays: Youth coaching /// Fridays: Ladies-only 'Tootle' rides (check for details) /// Weekends: Club runs

Chaingang - Tues 16 July 2019, 7.30pm

Could be the hottest, calmest (fastest?) chaingang of the year this evening. The grass track Strava lap record was broken last night (Mitchy bien sur). Jus' sayin'. The current weather is super fine.

See you at Steeple this evening for 1, 2 or 3 laps.

We've been getting the best turnout for chaingangs for a long time. So, come on over for a good group ride. The numbers may dwindle as the summer hols begin to bite.

If you want in on the Chaingang WhatsApp group for the very latest updates on the evening: text me. thanks.

CC Ashwell chaingang...

7.30pm - Depart Ashwell, Three Tuns at easy pace.
7.35pm - Meet up with those waiting at Steeple Morden pub/church and begin the first chaingang lap.

Each lap is 9 miles. Depending on the weather and who turns up, up to three laps are on offer.

If there are enough for two groups, send the faster group off first, so dropouts can latch on to the group behind.

Feeling the burn? Before you blow up, sit out your place in the chain and simply hang on at the back saying 'Last!' so the gang knows to miss you out. Enjoy the free speed from the group draft effect and rejoin the chain with clear communication once/if you have your breath back.

Aim for smoothness: the fast line is only fractionally faster (1mph) than the resting line, don't spring out of corners, don't overlap wheels, be super alert at all times and call out every hazard and manoeuvre.

Everyone welcome: CCA members or not.
