FINAL 2019 Evening TT Stats
Hi Folks,
As you may know, we run 5 competitions around the Evening TT series: The Handicap, Fastest Lady, Fastest Gent, Fastest Junior and Fastest Veteran off Standard. Each of the "Fastest" categories requires a minimum of 4 races to qualify and is the fastest 4 times of each rider averaged.
So far I've been keeping you across the Handicap. But with six races still to ride, I thought I'd update you on the standings in all competitions.
To remind you, the current Handicap situation looks like this.
Handicap standings:
Fastest Lady
None yet qualified. :-(
Fastest Gentleman
1. M. Young 22.21
2. M. Lawless 23.09
3. G. Askew 23.36
4. S. Miles 24.35
Fastest Junior
1. T. Ayers 27.56
Fastest Veteran off Standard
1. M. Lawless +3.22
2. S. Miles +2.52
3. R. Bumstead +2.10
4. T. Allen +1.36
5. D. Marriage +1.35
The "off Standard" calculation is a little impenetrable so here's an explanation. We take your age during the season, so if you have a birthday during the season, we use the older figure, and then read off the Veteran Time Trials Association Individual Standards here https://vtta.org.uk/standards. So if you're a 42 year old male, your "Standard" time is expected to be 26:12.
Your time relative to your Standard time is either a "plus" - you beat your standard time by that value - or a negative (you don't!). We take your fastest 4 rides, calculate your time off Standard, then average them. Our current leader, Mr. Lawless, averages an impressive 3 minutes 22 better than the expected VTTA Standard for his age - in the parlance, he has a "plus" of 3 minutes 22 seconds.
So feel proud and be loud that if you're a "plus" in the above list, you are anything but "average"! :-) See here for additional explanation https://vtta.org.uk/content/0-standards
All these figures will be double-checked before the end of the Season, so are subject to correction and also to newer times improving the averages.
For those who have not yet completed 4 qualifying rides, there is still time. For example, two Ladies are currently on 3 rides each. But don't leave it too late!

In advance of this Saturday night's Social, I've finally got round to running the rule over the stats for the TT season (apologies for the delay). Hopefully this will provide you with some excellent ammunition for banter, bragging rights etc. :-)
There were 18 races scheduled, but we lost three through roadworks. So of the 15 races that took place, the table of those who competed (including helping) four or more times is as follows: *Rejoined CCA from race on 10th July 2019
To remind you, the fastest Lady, Gent, Junior and Vet below require a minimum of 4 races to qualify and the times shown are the average of the racer's fastest 4 times.
Fastest Lady Fastest Gentleman (Top 10) Fastest Junior
1. T. Ayers 27.52
Bare in mind that Master Ayers was racing on a 34 ring, so at most a 34 x 11 = 81.3 inch gear! Chapeau!
Fastest Veteran off Standard (Men and Women combined, plus scores only)
And finally, confirming the Top 10 placings in the Handicap See you on Saturday!
