31st July Evening Club 10 TT - Results and Handicap Standings; NOW UPDATED WITH RACE REPORT
On a tough night for PB rides owing to a strong South Westerly that blew the riders out but was then a strong headwind on the return - or as one competitor put it "It was a headwind all the way around" - Mr. Askew again put in a punchy performance to be fastest man on the night. He also placed second in the Handicap scoring on the night behind a resurgent Mr. Marriage to nudge a few points further ahead of his nearest challenger in the standings, Mr. Orris, who seems to still be getting used to his new steed. Other notables included a fair time for Mr. Allen returning from a two week holiday.
Mrs. Field made a welcome return with a typically strong ride and was fastest Lady and Vet off standard on the evening and young Master Ayers was fastest Junior.
With just four races left this season, Mr. Askew's position on top of the Handicap standings is looking increasingly secure. But could a late run of form unseat him? While we ponder that question, our attention now turns to the Inter Club series with the fourth race of five, the 10 mile TT, taking place this coming Saturday and at which a number of our riders this evening will be competing. Let's wish them all well as I thank our helpers on the evening, who were Mr. Ayers Sr., Mr. Young and Mr. McLeish.
See you all next week!
